Long time lurker but I had to comment because this was hilarious. I would say that I feel the same way about Star Trek (the Sonic analogy is so good) but your viewpoint is way funnier than mine, the Checkov section had me LOLing

Congrats, Cary! That was the best written post on Star Trek that I've ever read written by someone who didn't really know much about Star Trek... :) I, too, liked the holographic doctor - although he was annoying for almost the entire first season or so.. The lady: 7 of 9 was her name. (She was #7 of her group of 9 borgs...)

Checkov was cool because he was a swordsman I think...'

Hopefully you'll like the new movies. The new star trek has a lot more "pew! pew! pew!" in it...

Fatal Frame has a "teen rating",Cary? That seems odd somehow. I believe FF's sequel Crimson Butterfly had a mature rating and so did the third game. I own every FF game except the first one actually. (Miku is one of the main characters in FF 3 The Tormented as well)

Regardless of its' faults, this is one of my favorite horror game franchises. I always thought the premise of dispelling ghosts by taking their pictures was original and it's a game that relies more on eerie story telling and creepy atmosphere (rather than excessive gore and jump scares) to frighten people. I always admired that.

I think the movement of the characters was somewhat improved in the following two games. That's one thing about survival horror games, their protagonists usually don't start out as the most graceful bunch of people. lol.

Woah, SO cool!

I'm still not sure if I will be able to play this time. We really need a new car, and are trying to be very conscientious with discretionary spending. Also, it is a few days after Marc's birthday, so fun spending should be for him. BUT there is that one year where he got a PS3 on my birthday!

When I am not looking at the promo materials for the new AC I feel fine not getting it, but when I see them I feel very anxious and yearn-ful to play. Especially b/c I can reconnect with my 1up friends, probably.

I wonder how common the AC edition of the 3DSXL will be? I think it is ugly, and I'd rather have a physical copy of the software, BUT it would be the cheapest buy-in option since I don't have a 3DS yet...
