"DEADPOOL_BOX"One of Marvel Comic’s most wisecracking, insanely silly (literally) anti-heroes now has his own game! Play as The Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool, in this third-person action brawler shooter game for PS3, 360, and PC (PS3 version reviewed here). Shoot and slash your way through all manner of bad guys, interact with other popular Marvel characters, and enjoy the off the wall raucous humor that Deadpool fans will love! Speaking of fans, my brother Jeff’s favorite Marvel character IS Deadpool, so I decided to let him take a stab at reviewing this one.

Deadpool, a game based on the Marvel comic book “hero” by the same name, is a super gory, hilariously vulgar, fourth wall breaking adventure by High Moon (makers of the awesome Transformers games, Cary made me say that). The game also features several other Marvel characters to interact with such as Rogue, Cable, Wolverine, and more!

In a sort of Devil May Cry style gameplay, the player controls Deadpool and fights with a combination of swords and guns, just like Deadpool does in his comics. You can upgrade these weapons and buy new ones to make your own play style, be it more defensive or attack oriented. Although there is no online play, there is a challenge mode and the campaign is just hilarious. The gameplay itself is not new or really innovative in any way, but fans of Deadpool will absolutely love this game. –Jeff Orth

Kid Factor:

Deadpool is rated M for Mature with ESRB descriptors of Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Sexual Content, and Strong Language. Plenty of blood splatter when you shoot and slash enemies, quite a bit of cursing, and rather off-color humor (but still funny for adults), abound in this game. But just as Deadpool is clearly a comic for older readers, the game reflects that, too. Definitely best for grown-ups and older gamers. Even better if you’re a Deadpool fan. Of course, I know next to nothing about Deadpool aside from his appearance in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but even I laughed out loud several times while watching Jeff play Deadpool’s new game. Maybe I’ll even give it a try myself when he’s done with it. (Kid Factor and Intro by Cary Woodham)
