Since the early 90\u2019s, he\u2019s been SEGA\u2019s mascot and I haven\u2019t met a kid yet who didn\u2019t like him. And now you can play his very first game with 3-D graphics by downloading it on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.<\/p>\n<p>SEGA\u2019s given gamers plenty of chances to try Sonic\u2019s first foray into gaming, so I don\u2019t think I need to describe it too much. It\u2019s a 2-D platformer where you jump and spin into robots to destroy them, and defeat Dr. Robotnik\u2019s mechanical boss creations at the end of each world.<\/p>\n<p>This version of the game comes with some extra features and options. I\u2019ve been blind in my left eye since birth so I can\u2019t see the 3-D effects, but I\u2019ve heard they\u2019re done very well. You can also toggle various emulation options; make the screen look like an old retro TV, and other things. Plus, you can turn off and on Sonic\u2019s spin dash move that he actually didn\u2019t have until the second game, and you can choose to select which stage you start on. Personally, I\u2019m not a huge fan of Sonic\u2019s first title, but I know many are, so if you liked his first game, you may enjoy playing it again with 3-D graphics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/09\/3d-sonic-the-hedgehog-3ds\/sonic_screen-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11278\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11278\" alt=\"SONIC_SCREEN\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/SONIC_SCREEN.jpg\" width=\"457\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/SONIC_SCREEN.jpg 457w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/SONIC_SCREEN-150x103.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/SONIC_SCREEN-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3D Sonic the Hedgehog is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence. Sonic just spins into robots that explode when defeated, and he falls off the screen when an enemy gets him. Reading skill isn\u2019t necessary either.
