{"id":11970,"date":"2014-06-09T00:01:09","date_gmt":"2014-06-09T00:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=11970"},"modified":"2014-06-06T11:26:08","modified_gmt":"2014-06-06T11:26:08","slug":"scram-kitty-and-his-buddy-on-rails-wii-u","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/09\/scram-kitty-and-his-buddy-on-rails-wii-u\/","title":{"rendered":"Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (Wii U)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/09\/scram-kitty-and-his-buddy-on-rails-wii-u\/kitty_box\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11967\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11967 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_BOX-150x143.jpg\" alt=\"KITTY_BOX\" width=\"150\" height=\"143\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_BOX-150x143.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_BOX-300x286.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_BOX.jpg 317w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Felines are being cat-napped from their pet owners, and are being held prisoner in a giant space station overrun with super-intelligent lab rats out for revenge.\u00a0 It\u2019s up to you to hop into your wall-traversing spinboard and save the kitties in this downloadable platform shooter for Wii U.<\/p>\n<p>In the game you view the action from a top-down perspective as you pilot a spacecraft that can only travel on the walls on the playfield.\u00a0 You can jump to avoid obstacles and collect hard to reach items.\u00a0 And if you jump again while in the air, you\u2019ll crash to the ground and bounce again with a higher, fiery jump.\u00a0 You can also fire blasters to shoot enemy mice.<\/p>\n<p>In each level, you\u2019ll have to rescue a certain number of cats.\u00a0 One cat just sits at the exit and you just have to make it there.\u00a0 Another appears when you collect all the pennies in a stage, defeat all the enemies, or catch a runaway cat in a given time limit.\u00a0 You\u2019ll need to replay and catch as many cats as you can in a stage, because you can\u2019t progress very far unless you rescue a certain number of the fickle felines.<\/p>\n<p>The game does have some problems, though.\u00a0 They don\u2019t always do a good job in the instructions telling you how to play and what certain items do.\u00a0 Plus, sometimes the action switches from the Wii U pad to the TV screen and back, and that can get a little confusing, even though you can switch it back manually.\u00a0 And finally, I just found the game rather difficult, and the limiting controls didn\u2019t help either.\u00a0 However, if you enjoy challenging shooter platform games, such as ones from Treasure (this one reminds me of Bangai-O), than you might enjoy this title anyway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/09\/scram-kitty-and-his-buddy-on-rails-wii-u\/kitty_screen\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11968\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11968\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"KITTY_SCREEN\" width=\"498\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_SCREEN.jpg 498w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/KITTY_SCREEN-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You shoot little cartoony mice in UFOs and they explode and that\u2019s about it for the violence.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for the text, and kid gamers may get frustrated at the high difficulty level and confusing controls.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Felines are being cat-napped from their pet owners, and are being held prisoner in a giant space station overrun with super-intelligent lab rats out for revenge.\u00a0 It\u2019s up to you to hop into your wall-traversing spinboard and save the kitties in this downloadable platform shooter for Wii U.
