{"id":12765,"date":"2014-11-25T00:01:04","date_gmt":"2014-11-25T00:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=12765"},"modified":"2014-11-18T12:38:55","modified_gmt":"2014-11-18T12:38:55","slug":"planes-fire-and-rescue-3ds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/25\/planes-fire-and-rescue-3ds\/","title":{"rendered":"Planes: Fire and Rescue (3DS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/25\/planes-fire-and-rescue-3ds\/planes_box\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12760\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-12760\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_BOX-150x133.jpg\" alt=\"PLANES_BOX\" width=\"150\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_BOX-150x133.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_BOX.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Planes: Fire &amp; Rescue is based on the Disney film of the same name.\u00a0 Help Dusty Crophopper and his airplane and helicopter friends as they use teamwork and bravery to put our fires and rescue others at Piston Park.\u00a0 The game is available for 3DS, Wii U, and Wii, but reviewed on 3DS here.<\/p>\n<p>The game is viewed from a top-down perspective and kind of reminds me of the 16-bit classic Jungle, Desert, and Urban Strike games.\u00a0 Except instead of shooting people you\u2019re helping them (well, they\u2019re not people, they\u2019re cars and other vehicles, as this is the world of Cars after all).\u00a0 Each character you control can do different things.\u00a0 Airplanes like Dusty and Dipper can fly over lakes, scoop up water, and then drop it over forest fires.\u00a0 Helicopters can do the same thing, but they can also spray fire retardant to keep flames from spreading, use a sonar to detect wildlife in trouble, and lift and hoist objects and characters that need to be rescued.\u00a0 Sometimes you\u2019ll even control ground vehicles that can help you clear out logs and other debris blocking the way.<\/p>\n<p>There are two types of missions you can tackle.\u00a0 Training Academy Missions and the main Fire and Rescue Missions.\u00a0 The training missions show you the ropes, but they can actually be harder than some of the main missions as you only get one try to pass them.\u00a0 In the main missions, you\u2019ll have to do multiple tasks to pass them, and can even switch out characters if need be.\u00a0 Mind the danger meters on the upper left side of the screen, as they represent fires that can get out of control.\u00a0 If the danger meter fills, you\u2019ll lose one of your tries.\u00a0 Lose all five and you\u2019ll have to restart the mission again.<\/p>\n<p>While I think it\u2019s pretty cool that you put out fires and save campers in this game (there aren\u2019t enough firefighter games out there), the game itself can become overly tedious and challenging.\u00a0 You\u2019ll constantly be flying back and forth to scoop up water and dropping it on fires over and over again.\u00a0 And the camera is zoomed so close to the action that it can be hard to react once you approach your objective.\u00a0 I think only die-hard Planes: Fire and Rescue fans will enjoy this one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2014\/11\/25\/planes-fire-and-rescue-3ds\/planes_screen\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12761\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-12761\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"PLANES_SCREEN\" width=\"334\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_SCREEN.jpg 334w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_SCREEN-117x150.jpg 117w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/PLANES_SCREEN-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reading skill is a must for the text, and younger gamers may get frustrated at the high difficulty level.\u00a0 Planes: Fire and Rescue is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Planes: Fire &amp; Rescue is based on the Disney film of the same name.\u00a0 Help Dusty Crophopper and his airplane and helicopter friends as they use teamwork and bravery to put our fires and rescue others at Piston Park.\u00a0 The game is available for 3DS, Wii U, and Wii, but reviewed on 3DS here.
