\"PRINCESS_BOX\"<\/a>Wow, it\u2019s been a LONG time since I\u2019ve seen The Princess Bride movie.\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember too much about it.\u00a0 I know there were some funny lines and Andre the Giant was in it, but that\u2019s about it.\u00a0 I do know it\u2019s since become a cult hit among fans, and I guess that\u2019s why someone just now decided to make a game out of it.\u00a0 The Princess Bride: The Official Game is a downloadable title for iOS devices, but reviewed on iPad here.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just a collection of mini-games based on scenes from the movie.\u00a0 In the first game, Shrieking Eels, you\u2019ll have to protect the princess stranded in the water by tapping on eels before they reach her.\u00a0 They come in waves and move in different patterns.\u00a0 If they reach her, you lose the game.\u00a0 In the second challenge, you\u2019ll climb the \u201cCliffs of Insanity\u201d while avoiding flying birds and falling rocks.\u00a0 Tilt the device to move left and right, and tap on the screen to climb higher.\u00a0 If you get hit by an obstacle, you\u2019ll lose the game.<\/p>\n

There are a couple of other games, too, unfortunately I can\u2019t tell you about them because the other games were too darn hard.\u00a0 In order to unlock games, you must collect stars by reaching certain goals. You may have to get a certain score or collect a certain number of coins.\u00a0 Each game has five stars to challenge you.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the games are very difficult.\u00a0 You can use \u201cMiracle Pills\u201d to continue after you lose, but you only get five of them to start and can\u2019t earn any more unless you buy them.\u00a0 I went through my free Miracle Pills in less than five minutes!\u00a0 I don\u2019t see why they had to make the game so hard!<\/p>\n

I did like the cartoony graphics.\u00a0 It makes me wonder if a Princess Bride cartoon would\u2019ve been a better idea instead.\u00a0 You can buy more miracle pills or unlock all the games with real money, but the games weren\u2019t fun enough for me to keep playing.\u00a0 I guess if you\u2019re a super big fan of the movie, you might like this game, but otherwise, it\u2019s not very good.<\/p>\n

The violence is only cartoony, and if you get hit by an obstacle or enemy, the scene just zips to a Game Over screen, so there are no grisly deaths or anything like that.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for the instructions, but there are also picture cues and the games are pretty easy to figure out just by playing.\u00a0 Younger gamers may get frustrated at the high difficulty level, though.\u00a0 Parental supervision is recommended for the in-game purchases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
