(3DS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2015\/04\/29\/box-boy-3ds\/attachment\/13372\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13372\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-13372\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_BOX-150x45.jpg\" alt=\"BOXBOY_BOX\" width=\"150\" height=\"45\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_BOX-150x45.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_BOX-300x89.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_BOX.jpg 401w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>When gamers think of HAL Laboratory, titles like Kirby and the Smash Bros. series come to mind.\u00a0 But they\u2019re also no stranger to puzzlers, too.\u00a0 In fact, back before Kirby was even around, HAL made a series of block pushing puzzle games on the NES called Adventures of Lolo (I used to play the heck out of those when I was a kid).\u00a0 In fact, Lolo and Lala can be seen in some Kirby games, too!\u00a0 Anyway, HAL is going back to their puzzling roots with Box Boy!\u00a0 It\u2019s a downloadable eShop game for the Nintendo 3DS, and it\u2019ll make you think outside the box!<\/p>\n<p>In the game, you play as a simple box with legs and eyes.\u00a0 He can\u2019t move very fast or jump very high, but he has a particular special power.\u00a0 He can create blocks that you can use in various ways.\u00a0 They can be stepping stones or shields for bypassing traps.\u00a0 You can also make chains of blocks and use them like a hook to reach higher ledges.\u00a0 In every level, you have a limited amount of blocks you can chain at once, and when you release them, the blocks you had before will disappear.\u00a0 Each world has several bite-sized stages, perfect for portable gaming.\u00a0 In these levels, you\u2019ll encounter different obstacles and switches that\u2019ll have you using your blocks in extremely creative ways.\u00a0 You\u2019ll maneuver them around conveyor belts, cranes, and much more.\u00a0 There are so many cool ideas implemented in this game that I couldn\u2019t list them all!<\/p>\n<p>In each stage there are one or two crowns to collect.\u00a0 Gather them all to receive a bonus at the end of the level.\u00a0 But these crowns can be tricky to reach!\u00a0 And some of them will disappear if you use too many blocks!\u00a0 By beating stages and collecting crowns, you\u2019ll earn money you can spend to buy unlockables like music, tips, and bonus time attack and score attack levels.\u00a0 Also, you can buy outfits to dress your character in, and some of them give you special powers, like the bunny suit that lets you jump high or the ninja suit that lets you run fast.<\/p>\n<p>The visuals take a minimalist approach.\u00a0 It would\u2019ve been nice to see some color or variety in the levels, but I guess that\u2019s part of the style.\u00a0 The puzzles aren\u2019t TOO tricky, but getting all the crowns sure is!\u00a0 And once you finish the hundred or so levels, dozen more bonus stages open up as well.\u00a0 And if you get stuck, you can spend one measly 3DS Play Coin to get a helpful hint, so it\u2019s not too frustrating.\u00a0 So if you like puzzle platform challenges, you\u2019ll definitely want to download Box Boy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2015\/04\/29\/box-boy-3ds\/boxboy_screen\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-13373\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-13373\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"BOXBOY_SCREEN\" width=\"400\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_SCREEN.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_SCREEN-150x90.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/BOXBOY_SCREEN-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Box Boy!
