{"id":15274,"date":"2016-08-10T00:01:50","date_gmt":"2016-08-10T00:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=15274"},"modified":"2016-07-14T08:42:55","modified_gmt":"2016-07-14T08:42:55","slug":"frantic-shooter-ios-android","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/10\/frantic-shooter-ios-android\/","title":{"rendered":"Frantic Shooter (iOS, Android)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/frantic_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-15271\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_BOX-150x89.jpg\" alt=\"FRANTIC_BOX\" width=\"150\" height=\"89\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_BOX-150x89.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>I love it when game titles describe what the game is like.\u00a0 This free-to-play downloadable for iOS and Android (reviewed on iPad here), reminds me of other intense overhead shooters like Robotron, Smash TV, Geometry Wars, or Assault Android Cactus, but with single touch controls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Moving your character around is simple.\u00a0 Just slide your finger in the direction you want to go.\u00a0 You can swipe to move faster and tap to stop.\u00a0 It\u2019s pretty easy, but some may prefer more precise controls.\u00a0 Also, your character will automatically aim at enemies, so you can just concentrate on avoiding streams of bullets.\u00a0 Again, some people may rather be able to aim the shots themselves, and may not like the lack of control here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">So the stage is just an (almost) single screen arena and obstacles and enemies are randomly generated, so it\u2019s never the same game twice.\u00a0 Defeated enemies will drop three kinds of items.\u00a0 Little purple pill things will level up your main weapon when you collect enough, so you\u2019ll want to gather as many of these as you can.\u00a0 Yellow squares with a C on them are currency, and larger purple squares will give you a temporary power-up, like a larger gun or shields.\u00a0 When you get hit too many times and run out of energy, the game is over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Between rounds, you can use the currency you picked up to buy special main weapons, but you can only use them for a short while, like another hour or so, so enjoy them while you can.\u00a0 You can also use currency to continue where you left off if you die.\u00a0 You can also use real money to buy other playable characters, but I don\u2019t know if they play differently or not.\u00a0 Again, some shooter purists may not like the single touch controls, and some of the free-to-play aspects can be a little annoying, like having to watch video ads for other games every now and then.\u00a0 But otherwise, this is a fun little arcadey shooter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/frantic_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15272\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"FRANTIC_SCREEN\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/FRANTIC_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Kid Factor:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Even though you are shooting everything in sight, the only things you kill are robots.\u00a0 If you lose all your energy, you just fall over.\u00a0 One of the characters you can buy is a giant swirl of poo, so there is a bit of toilet humor.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for the text, but not necessary as the game is pretty easy to figure out just by playing.\u00a0 Parental supervision is recommended for the ads and in-game purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love it when game titles describe what the game is like.\u00a0 This free-to-play downloadable for iOS and Android (reviewed on iPad here), reminds me of other intense overhead shooters like Robotron, Smash TV, Geometry Wars, or Assault Android Cactus, but with single touch controls.
