\"MUTANT_BOX\"<\/a>A few years ago, game developer Renegade Kid released Mutant Mudds, a run-and-gun 2-D platformer about a kid armed with a water gun who zaps monsters made of mud who are trying to get you!\u00a0 It featured classic 8-bit graphics and sound, as well as a challenge level similar to games of that era (meaning it was hard).\u00a0 Well, if that game wasn\u2019t difficult enough for you, now there\u2019s Mutant Mudds Super Challenge.\u00a0 It\u2019s the same basic game, but the new levels are super tough!\u00a0 You\u2019ll be hard-pressed to get through Stage 1-1 unless you are a pro!\u00a0 Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is available for download on most current consoles, but reviewed on PS Vita here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Controls are simple.\u00a0 Use one button to jump and hold down to hover for a short while.\u00a0 And shoot with the other button.\u00a0 You can take three hits from enemies, but spikes and pits will kill you with one shot, so that\u2019s really what you have to watch out for here.\u00a0 You can collect coins to boost your score and sometimes find power-ups like guns to help you shoot ghostly enemies, but that\u2019s it.\u00a0 At certain spots in the game, you can jump in and out of the background, but most of the time it doesn\u2019t add anything to the experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Again, this game is super hard, but at least you can choose which level to tackle out of an assortment.\u00a0 And the levels seem more varied here, too, with stages based on forests, ice, desert, spooky, and high in the clouds.\u00a0 There are also boss battles and secret stages and exits to find, too.\u00a0 I\u2019ve never really been a big fan of the Mutant Mudds franchise, as I felt the controls were a bit too slow for a run-and-gun game.\u00a0 And I also don\u2019t like games that are ridiculously hard for difficulty\u2019s sake.\u00a0 But if you like challenging games, this one is definitely for you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kid Factor:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You just shoot mud monsters with a water gun who just splat away when defeated.\u00a0 Reading skill isn\u2019t needed, as the game is easy to figure out by playing.\u00a0 But because of the high challenge level, it\u2019s best for older gamers anyway, unless you have some kind of amazing young game playing prodigy on your hands.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
