It doesn’t come from my childhood, I mean then Christmas was pretty hard to beat. I think it probably comes from the time I shared a Thanksgiving with about 25 weirdos at a pot luck in the Haight back in College and from my kids. Now it’s deepened in meaning because of the Heart Attack. I love my family and my life, Happy Thanksgiving to my volunteers and readers. Ok, now lets talk about some games.

Short week this week and my play has been very consistent lately. Mostly I’ve been playing Left 4 Dead. I also noodled around with the new Wii Monopoly and that might see some time tomorrow. It’s a crowded field though, at Thanksgiving we can play Outdoor Challenge, Wii Fit, Wii Sports and I’m thinking about throwing in Carnival Games Mini-Golf and the Wii version of a boxing game I didn’t like, Facebreaker. That one should be world’s better on Wii. The Xbox 360 and PS3 are dusty lately, so is the DS. Weird with Gears of War 2 sitting here looking all petulant.

Another game I want to try with the family is Hasbro Game Night. It includes Connect Four, Sorry, Boggle, and Battleship. I wonder if it’ll be more or less fun playing these games on a TV – where no peices can be lost and everything is on the up and up – or will it just be less fun not being able to bonk and opponent and yell “SORRY!”

As mentioned, still playing Left 4 Dead and still finding it a different experience every time I play. The way you have to work together is genius and I seem to like losing more than most. See I don’t like Left 4 Dead as an Aliens clone (though that sounds like an incredible game). I don’t want to be Rambo. I want to be vulnerable. I want it to be hard and scary and I love a good pan out when everyone’s died. So cinematic and visceral. The game really packs a punch. It’s far more than a zombie game, it’s the dawn of an online gameplay style I can really get into.

Ok, that wasn’t very Thanksgiving-ey was it? How about this, when playing Left 4 Dead I feel like these Internet strangers are like a family. Zombies bring people together and make siblings of us all!

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday and I’m not sure why.
