{"id":15690,"date":"2016-11-16T00:01:04","date_gmt":"2016-11-16T00:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=15690"},"modified":"2016-10-30T01:29:38","modified_gmt":"2016-10-30T01:29:38","slug":"lego-dimensions-mission-impossible-level-pack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/16\/lego-dimensions-mission-impossible-level-pack\/","title":{"rendered":"LEGO Dimensions Mission Impossible Level Pack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=15687\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-15687\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-15687 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1-150x130.jpg\" alt=\"LEGOMI1\" width=\"150\" height=\"130\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1-150x130.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1-300x259.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The first Mission Impossible movie came out way back in 1996.\u00a0 I remember watching it, and it was a decent action flick, but it didn\u2019t compel me to watch any of the sequels.\u00a0 Plus, even though the TV show it was based on was a little before my time, I seem to remember it focusing more on teamwork between the agents, while the movie was just \u201cTom Cruise Does Everything.\u201d\u00a0 But the movie was certainly popular enough to spawn sequels.\u00a0 And now, your mission, if you choose to build it, is to check out the Mission Impossible Level Pack for LEGO Dimensions.\u00a0 The game is available for nearly all current game consoles, but reviewed on Wii U here.<\/p>\n<p>LEGO Dimensions is essentially like Skylanders except you build and play with LEGO figures and vehicles in the game.\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2015\/12\/04\/the-portals-of-lego-dimensions\/\">I even wrote a big article about it a while back<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0 Here is a closer shot of the box for the Mission Impossible Level Pack.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/legomi1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15687\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1.jpg\" alt=\"LEGOMI1\" width=\"500\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1-150x130.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI1-300x259.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Three figures are included for you to build.\u00a0 You get Tom Cruise\u2019s character Ethan Hunt.\u00a0 As a playable character, he has all sorts of spy gear at his disposal.\u00a0 You have a stealth skill, grappling hook, explosives, and a gun for attacking long distances.\u00a0 What\u2019s interesting is that the LEGO figure has two faces: just his regular face and on the back is his \u2018hacker\u2019 face which has a headset.\u00a0 So you can switch to whatever face you want, and it kind of reminded me of Good Cop\/Bad Cop from The LEGO Movie.\u00a0 As you play through the included level, you\u2019ll be prompted to build two vehicles.\u00a0 One is a motorcycle that is used mostly for jumping up ramps and crashing into windows.\u00a0 You can also jump while riding it.\u00a0 The other one you build is a car, which can pull certain three-pronged hooks like most other LEGO vehicles in this game can do.\u00a0 Here is a closer shot of what you can build.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/legomi2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15688\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI2.jpg\" alt=\"LEGOMI2\" width=\"500\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI2.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI2-150x69.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI2-300x137.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The pack comes with a full level for you to play based on the movie.\u00a0 It plays like any other LEGO game, complete with the humor we\u2019ve all come to expect.\u00a0 There\u2019s even a \u2018blink-and-you\u2019ll-miss-it\u201d Top Gun reference!\u00a0 The level is actually pretty long (maybe a little too long).\u00a0 Unfortunately, I wasn\u2019t able to finish the level because a bug kept me from solving a puzzle to open an elevator. I would restart, try playing with just one player, but nothing worked.\u00a0 I even watch videos of people playing through the level to see if I missed anything.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 I guess it really was Mission Impossible!\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t a very interesting level to me anyway and felt like it was geared toward single player only.\u00a0 Also, like most other LEGO Dimensions levels, using the portal pedestal is not very intuitive most of the time.<\/p>\n<p>You also get to explore a hub world to earn more gold bricks and other goodies by completing missions.\u00a0 But the hub world just looks like a generic city, and as you walk around it it\u2019ll say that you\u2019re in places like Prague, then Rome, Sydney, etc.\u00a0 But they all look the same and only are about a block apart.\u00a0 It\u2019s a small world after all, I guess. Because of the uninteresting level design and bugs, I\u2019d have to say this was one of the weaker LEGO Dimensions expansions for me.\u00a0 I think only die-hard fans of the movie will enjoy this one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/legomi3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15689\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI3.jpg\" alt=\"LEGOMI3\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI3.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI3-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/LEGOMI3-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LEGO Dimensions is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Cartoon Violence and Crude Humor.
