don’t kill me, but I’m just not a big Harry Potter fan. I read through the fourth book and got tired of it after that, same thing with the movies. But just because I’m not a fan, it doesn’t mean I HATE Harry Potter. I think the books are great for kids and the Harry Potter area at Universal Studios is AMAZING! I wish they could make a set for LEGO Dimensions based on Chronicles of Narnia, now that was a book series I was really into as a kid. But if you’re a fan of Harry Potter, there is a new Fun Pack out for LEGO Dimensions that you’ll think is pretty magical. LEGO Dimensions is available for nearly all current game consoles, but reviewed on Wii U here.

LEGO Dimensions is essentially like Skylanders except the figures you get are made out of LEGOs that you must build. I even wrote a big article about LEGO Dimensions a while back that you can read if you want more information. The Harry Potter Fun Pack includes a playable character and vehicle and also unlocks a special hub world and battle arena. Here is a closer shot of the box.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" />

Like with other LEGO Dimensions sets, first you build the figure and you get the instructions to build the vehicle in-game. The character you get is Hermione Granger. She can do pretty much what any other LEGO wizard can do: fire blasts from here wand, create a shield, and build and operate magic blocks and structures. The vehicle you get is Buckbeak the griffin. You can mount him and fly around. And you can upgrade him if you so wish. Here is a picture of the characters all built and out of the box.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16527" the Harry Potter hub world. Like any other hub in the game, you can explore and take on missions for gold bricks and other goodies. You’ll visit locations like Hogwarts, the Quidditch fields, Hosgmeade, and many other places I don’t know much about since I don’t get into the books and movies and such. But Harry Potter fans should love it.

<a Factor:

LEGO Dimensions is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Cartoon Violence and Crude Humor. If you’re OK with your kids reading the books and watching the movies, they’ll be OK with this game. While I would recommend most LEGO games to all ages, I think LEGO Dimensions is best for older kids. One, the things you build are pretty complicated sometimes, so they would need to be experienced LEGO handlers. And like other LEGO toys, the sets are pretty expensive so kids would need to know how to keep up with and take care of their toys, as the game is useless without them. And plus using the pedestal is not very intuitive. Also don’t forget the whole choking hazard thing with small LEGOs!

Please don’t kill me, but I’m just not a big Harry Potter fan. I read through the fourth book and got tired of it after
