{"id":16800,"date":"2017-08-28T00:01:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T00:01:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=16800"},"modified":"2017-08-12T17:13:35","modified_gmt":"2017-08-12T17:13:35","slug":"slime-san-switch-ps4-xbox-one-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/28\/slime-san-switch-ps4-xbox-one-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Slime-san (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/slime_box-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-16798\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_BOX-150x31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"31\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_BOX-150x31.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_BOX-300x62.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_BOX.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>A giant worm has swallowed poor Slime-san, and now you must help him escape before being digested in this super challenging 2-D platformer.\u00a0 Very similar to other titles like Super Meat Boy, Slime-san is available to download on Nintendo Switch and PC (later on PS4 and Xbox One), but reviewed on Switch here.<\/p>\n<p>Each area in Slime-san is a single screen, with a level comprising of a few of those screens.\u00a0 Slime-san can hop, jump up walls, and do a quick dash.\u00a0 You can also perform a move that makes you transparent to go through green blocks, and it also slows down the action.\u00a0 But it doesn\u2019t slow down the actual timer, so use it sparingly.\u00a0 If you dawdle, a pool of digestive juices will rise up, and you\u2019ll have to hurry so you don\u2019t get dissolved.\u00a0 Each stage has four hidden apples to get, making it even tougher for a perfect run.\u00a0 And if you can complete a stage in record time, you get a trophy.\u00a0 And in some levels, there are super secret hidden coins you can use to buy things in the shops.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the giant worm that swallowed you is so big that there is a street you can visit inside with shops.\u00a0 You can buy outfits for your slime, special powers that enhance or limit your movements for more challenge, arcade mini-games, and more!\u00a0 I only wish the coins weren\u2019t so hard to get to buy these things, as the arcade games look really fun (they only cost five coins, but I\u2019ve only found one so far).\u00a0 Aside from the shops, you can also explore Slime-san\u2019s family house, try speedrunner challenges, and much more!<\/p>\n<p>The graphics in Slime-san have a very retro feel.\u00a0 In fact, there\u2019s only like, four colors used (blue, white, green and red).\u00a0 It makes the game look like it\u2019s being shown on an old PC monitor.\u00a0 Even better is the awesome 8-bit soundtrack.\u00a0 Aside from how hard it is to get coins, the only other problem I had with the game is it just gets way too hard in general.\u00a0 I\u2019ve never been a fan of games that are ridiculously hard for challenge\u2019s sake, but I will say that Slime-san kept me interested more than most of these kinds of games do, so you know it has to be good.\u00a0 So if you enjoyed Super Meat Boy and its ilk, you should really try this one, too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/slime_screen-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16799\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/SLIME_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Slime-san is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Crude Humor.\u00a0 When you get hit by an obstacle or enemy, you just explode and appear at the beginning of the stage.\u00a0 Reading skill is a must for the text, and younger gamers and less experienced players may get frustrated at the high challenge level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A giant worm has swallowed poor Slime-san, and now you must help him escape before being digested in this super challenging 2-D platformer.\u00a0 Very similar to other titles like Super Meat Boy, Slime-san is available to download on Nintendo Switch and PC (later on PS4 and Xbox One), but reviewed on Switch here.
