{"id":16959,"date":"2017-09-22T00:01:12","date_gmt":"2017-09-22T00:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=16959"},"modified":"2017-09-20T16:52:47","modified_gmt":"2017-09-20T16:52:47","slug":"pankapu-ps4-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2017\/09\/22\/pankapu-ps4-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Pankapu (PS4, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pankapu_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-16956\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_BOX-150x70.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"70\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_BOX-150x70.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>An evil being has taken over the land of dreams, and a good spirit uses the last of its energy to create the hero Pankapu.\u00a0 As Pankapu, you\u2019ll run, jump, and fight your way through beautifully hand-drawn stages in this downloadable 2-D platformer on PS4 and PC (reviewed on PS4 here).<\/p>\n<p>Pankapu can run and jump, as well as use a sword in his fighter mode to slash enemies.\u00a0 Later on in the game you\u2019ll be able to transform into an archer for dispatching long distance baddies, as well as a mage, good for blasts of magic.\u00a0 Each form has many skills to master.\u00a0 For instance, as the fighter, you\u2019ll learn abilities like a downward thrust and throwing your sword like a boomerang.<\/p>\n<p>Some skills deplete a special meter, so you\u2019ll have to watch out for that.\u00a0 You can also block, which refills that meter, so you\u2019ll want to have a good mix of attacking and blocking in the game.\u00a0 You can even attach elemental properties to your weapons once you collect certain nebula, which gives you even more attack moves.\u00a0 Speaking of collecting, there are lots of goodies to nab in the stages, and sometimes you might even have to backtrack to find a special item.<\/p>\n<p>The hand-drawn animations are very fluid and the backgrounds look like lavish paintings.\u00a0 But for some reason, the game just didn\u2019t draw me in like these kinds of titles usually do.\u00a0 Play control is a little floaty and the platforming can be a bit repetitive and dull at times.\u00a0 Plus the game is quite challenging.\u00a0 But if you enjoy all things 2-D, you may want to give this one a try anyway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pankapu_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16957\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/PANKAPU_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pankapu is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You can slash enemies with weapons, but most of them are just black blobs that melt away when defeated.\u00a0 Reading skill is a must for the text, and younger players may get frustrated at the high difficulty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An evil being has taken over the land of dreams, and a good spirit uses the last of its energy to create the hero Pankapu.\u00a0 As Pankapu, you\u2019ll run, jump, and fight your way through beautifully hand-drawn stages in this downloadable 2-D platformer on PS4 and PC (reviewed on PS4 here).
