{"id":16971,"date":"2017-11-13T00:01:50","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T00:01:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=16971"},"modified":"2017-10-15T15:27:31","modified_gmt":"2017-10-15T15:27:31","slug":"beach-buggy-racing-switch-ps4-xbox-one-mobile-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2017\/11\/13\/beach-buggy-racing-switch-ps4-xbox-one-mobile-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Beach Buggy Racing (Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Mobile, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/beach_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-16967 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_BOX-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_BOX-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_BOX.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Beach Buggy Racing is a kart racer where a bunch of crazy drivers and their dune buggies compete in a tropical setting.\u00a0 It\u2019s available to download on nearly all current game consoles, mobile, and PC, but reviewed here on the Switch.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve played a kart racer before, you\u2019ll know what you\u2019re getting into here.\u00a0 First pick a driver, and each one has a special ability you can activate once per race.\u00a0 You\u2019ll unlock more drivers as you complete challenges.\u00a0 Same thing with the beach buggies, which is what you choose next.\u00a0 The tracks are all tropical themed, centered around beaches and volcanoes and such.\u00a0 Like other kart racers, on the tracks you can pick up weapons that\u2019ll help you gain the lead.\u00a0 Some you can pick up include boosts, shields, rockets, and more.<\/p>\n<p>There are many gameplay modes, but the main campaign mode has you complete various challenges.\u00a0 Most of the time it\u2019s just a race, but sometimes you have to beat a certain time on the track or challenge another racer to a one on one match.\u00a0 Depending on how well you do, you can earn stars and coins.\u00a0 The more stars you have, the more levels you can unlock.\u00a0 Spend your coins to upgrade each car\u2019s attributes, like speed, handling, etc. \u00a0One neat thing you can do while upgrading cars is change their color and patterns, too.<\/p>\n<p>Other game modes include a split screen two player local match, time trials, cup challenges with consecutive races, and a daily challenge.\u00a0 Although the game is decent, I really can\u2019t imagine any Switch owner wanting to play this over Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is a much better game.\u00a0 Unless of course you\u2019re on a very limited budget or played MK8 to death. And after the first set of challenges, the difficulty ramps way up, forcing you to really grind for upgrades.\u00a0 I think only die-hard kart racer fans will enjoy this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/beach_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16968\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/BEACH_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beach Buggy Racing is rated E for Everyone with ESRB descriptors of Mild Fantasy Violence and Use of Tobacco. \u00a0I don\u2019t remember seeing any of the characters smoking in the game, and the only violence is sending silly weapons out to opponents who just tumble around when hit.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for the text, and younger gamers may find the races too difficult and frustrating fairly quickly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beach Buggy Racing is a kart racer where a bunch of crazy drivers and their dune buggies compete in a tropical setting.\u00a0 It\u2019s available to download on nearly all current game consoles, mobile, and PC, but reviewed here on the Switch.
