\"\"<\/a>In the second part of my look at the characters in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, we\u2019ll go over the fighters on the Capcom side.\u00a0 I\u2019m way more into video games (obviously, since I review them) than I am comic books, so hopefully I\u2019ll sound a bit more knowledgeable here.\u00a0 So let\u2019s dive right in.\u00a0 Oh yeah, some slight Story Mode spoilers here and there may happen, so you\u2019ve been warned.<\/p>\n

One disadvantage of having the Marvel cast be more well-known and generic and not have as many obscure characters is that the Capcom side kind of reflects that mentality, too.\u00a0 Most of the Capcom cast is pretty well-known and there\u2019s not any really obscure or weird, silly fighters like there have been in the past.\u00a0 But we\u2019ll talk more about that at the end of this blog.<\/p>\n

Ryu<\/strong><\/p>\n

The mascot of the Street Fighter series.\u00a0 I think he\u2019s kind of boring, though.\u00a0 Just a guy in a karate suit who likes to fight.\u00a0 And his face looks weird in this game.\u00a0 One interesting thing is that in the story mode, Thanos steals the evil side of Ryu and puts it in his special gauntlets.\u00a0 And then he uses that skill to charge up a hadoken to get revenge on Death in the post credits scene.<\/p>\n

Chun-Li<\/strong><\/p>\n

She\u2019s a much cooler representative of the Street Fighter series here.\u00a0 I like her big ol\u2019 muscle legs!\u00a0 I wish they would\u2019ve had my favorite Street Fighter character in here, though, and that would be Cammy.\u00a0 She was only in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and then it was my less favorite Alpha version.<\/p>\n

Mega Man X<\/strong><\/p>\n

While I would\u2019ve preferred to have classic Mega Man be in this game, I\u2019ll take whatever Blue Bomber representation I can get.\u00a0 I liked playing as original Mega Man in Marvel vs. Capcom 1 and 2 because it was so easy to pull off projectile moves with him.\u00a0 Not so much with Mega Man X.\u00a0 But he does play an integral part in the story mode, though.\u00a0 Tony Stark (Iron Man) invents an arm cannon for X to use to deliver the final blow to Ultron Sigma.\u00a0 He equips the Infinity Stones to it and calls it the Infinity Buster.\u00a0 My brother Jeff said that sounds like a really bad crossover fan fiction.\u00a0 In a way, I guess he\u2019s right.\u00a0 X\u2019s theme song in Infinite is from the highway stage in the first MMX game, one of the most memorable intro stages in gaming ever.<\/p>\n

Zero<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did you know that the creator of the Mega Man X games originally wanted to have Zero be the main character?\u00a0 But Capcom told him to make it be Mega Man X so people would be more familiar with it.\u00a0 You can\u2019t have Mega Man X without Zero, though, so that\u2019s why he\u2019s in here.\u00a0 Zero is also my brother Jeff\u2019s favorite Mega Man X character.<\/p>\n

Sigma<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s the main antagonist in the Mega Man X games and the other half of the Ultron Sigma bad guy duo in this game.\u00a0 In some of the modes (not Story Mode), you can play as each separately.\u00a0 Some have said that Sigma in this game looks like Buzz Lightyear.\u00a0 I can see that.<\/p>\n

Jedah<\/strong><\/p>\n

He’s one of the main bad guys in DarkStalkers, a fighting game series featuring classic monsters like mummies, zombies, vampires, and werewolves.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what Jedah is supposed to be, though.\u00a0 He likes to try to take over the Makai Kingdom, which is the undead realm where DarkStalkers and Ghosts N Goblins games take place.<\/p>\n

Morrigan<\/strong><\/p>\n

She\u2019s one of the more popular DarkStalkers characters.\u00a0 Even though I like her green hair, I\u2019m not really a big fan of her character because she seems a little TOO fanservice-y.\u00a0 In this game, they gave her voice a slight (yet fakey) Irish accent and it seems to fit pretty well for her character.<\/p>\n

Chris Redfield<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t really play the Resident Evil games so I can\u2019t say much about this guy.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen him a lot in games, though.\u00a0 He\u2019s a big buff guy who likes to shoot guns, that\u2019s all I know.\u00a0 I wish you could\u2019ve played as Jill Valentine instead.\u00a0 I liked playing as her in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.<\/p>\n

Nemesis<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s big ol\u2019 mutant zombie guy from the Resident Evil games.\u00a0 Did you know that Nemesis and Jill Valentine made appearances in an obscure Capcom PS2 game called Under the Skin?\u00a0 In that game, you played as an alien named Cosmi who liked to play pranks, and he could possess Earthlings to do his bidding.\u00a0 Jill and Nemesis were some of the secret characters you could possess and make mischief with.\u00a0 I wish Capcom would make more weird games like that.<\/p>\n

Arthur<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s the hero from the Ghosts N Goblins games.\u00a0 I guess he\u2019s one of the more sillier characters in this game, given his cartoony look and short stature.\u00a0 I never was a fan of the Ghosts N Goblins games because of their difficulty, but the games certainly have style.\u00a0 Did you know that the same guy who did the illustrations for the games also does the cover illustrations for the Japanese Famitsu magazine?\u00a0 He also did the art for the spinoff Maximo games, which were pretty neat games, too.\u00a0 I know some of the folks who worked on those titles.<\/p>\n

Firebrand<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the enemies in the Ghosts N Goblins games was so popular that he got his own series of spinoffs.\u00a0 Gargoyle\u2019s Quest 1 & 2 (GB and NES) and Demon\u2019s Crest (SNES).\u00a0 I like those games better than Ghosts N Goblins, even though they\u2019re still too darn hard.\u00a0 Firebrand was also in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and he plays pretty much the same here.<\/p>\n

Strider<\/strong><\/p>\n

Capcom\u2019s classic ninja from the future is one of their most popular and long-running series.\u00a0 I never got into them as much myself, but I did play a few here and there.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t play the last one they made, but I do have Strider 2 on PSOne.\u00a0 He\u2019s been in quite a few fighting games, too, and plays pretty much the same here, as far as I can tell.<\/p>\n

Dante<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s the hero in the Devil May Cry games.\u00a0 I never played those so I don\u2019t have much to say about him.\u00a0 I like how he tricks the bad guys in Story Mode, though.<\/p>\n

Mike Haggar<\/strong><\/p>\n

When it comes to classic side scrolling beat \u2018em ups, many people have fond memories of Double Dragon.\u00a0 But me, I preferred Final Fight, myself.\u00a0 And I think it\u2019s aged better, too.\u00a0 I was glad to see Mike Haggar in this game because I always played as him in Final Fight.\u00a0 In this game he has an endless supply of pipes to bonk opponents with.\u00a0 I think I\u2019ll also use this character to lead into the background stages you fight in.\u00a0 Many are combined worlds of Capcom and Marvel put together.\u00a0 So for instance, A.I.M. and the Umbrella Corporation become A.I.M.Brella.\u00a0 And Mike Haggar is the mayor of Metro City, but in the story mode it merges with the Marvel version of New York to become New Metro City.<\/p>\n

Frank West<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some people have complained that the Dead Rising games aren\u2019t scary, but I don\u2019t think they were meant to be scary.\u00a0 I think they just wanted to make a game where you can mow down tons of zombies in silly ways.\u00a0 I enjoyed watching my brother Jeff play the Dead Rising games because of all the Capcom references in them.\u00a0 My favorite was the giant Servebot head that Frank West could wear.\u00a0 And I\u2019m glad that makes a return in this game, too.\u00a0 I\u2019m sad that Tron Bonne and the Servebots aren\u2019t playable fighters in Infinite, but at least they are mentioned in Frank West\u2019s bio in the options menu.<\/p>\n

Rad Spencer<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s the main hero in the Bionic Commando games.\u00a0 For the fighting game, they used the version that was in the 3-D game, but his theme song is still the tune from the first stage of the NES classic.<\/p>\n

Non Playable (?) Characters<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like the Marvel cast, there are some Capcom characters that are in Story Mode, but they\u2019re not playable.\u00a0 At least not yet.\u00a0 I do know that at least ONE of these characters will be DLC, though.<\/p>\n

Monster Hunter<\/strong><\/p>\n

So when I played Story Mode, there was a female character alongside Black Panther wearing samurai-like armor and she looked really cool.\u00a0 I thought, \u201cthat looks like a neat Marvel character\u201d but I couldn\u2019t find any information about her.\u00a0 Turns out she\u2019s actually a Capcom character, a Monster Hunter from the game series of the same name!\u00a0 I can\u2019t believe I didn\u2019t recognize a Capcom character!\u00a0 But then, I don\u2019t play the Monster Hunter games.\u00a0 And in my defense, she does look pretty generic.\u00a0 Just goes to show you how popular the Monster Hunter series is if they already have a fighter for this game!\u00a0 Heck, Monster Hunter is so popular, that for a short while you could get Monster Hunter themed furniture in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.\u00a0 She is going to be a DLC fighter, by the way.<\/p>\n

Grandmaster Meio<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u2019s the main bad guy in the Strider games.\u00a0 Kind of looks like the evil Emperor from Star Wars.\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember him too much from the Strider games because it\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve beaten one of them.\u00a0 You don\u2019t fight him, he just sits in the background of one of the stages in Story Mode and zaps lasers at you while you fight other guys.<\/p>\n

Dr. Light<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not actually the REAL Dr. Light, just the hologram version from the Mega Man X games.\u00a0 He helps Tony Stark figure out and invent things in the story mode, acting as his computer assistant.\u00a0 He\u2019s also in charge of telling you about the characters and other things in the gallery mode.\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty sure he won\u2019t be a playable character, though.<\/p>\n
