{"id":18547,"date":"2018-12-26T00:01:53","date_gmt":"2018-12-26T00:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=18547"},"modified":"2018-12-09T14:17:52","modified_gmt":"2018-12-09T14:17:52","slug":"nintendo-labo-vehicle-kit-airplane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2018\/12\/26\/nintendo-labo-vehicle-kit-airplane\/","title":{"rendered":"Nintendo Labo Vehicle Kit: Airplane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=18540\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18540\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-18540\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10-150x74.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"74\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10-150x74.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10-300x149.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The last thing we\u2019ll look at in the Nintendo Labo Vehicle Kit is the controller for the airplane, which is just a cardboard flight stick.\u00a0 There are also a bunch of little small odds and ends that you can build, too, which we\u2019ll briefly go over as well.\u00a0 Prepare for take off!<\/p>\n<p>The flight stick works like the other controllers in this set.\u00a0 It houses a dark area with reflective stickers, and when you put the key in with the JoyCon controller, the IR camera inside reads the stickers and tells the game what to do.\u00a0 You build a little cardboard spring device to move the stick in all directions, and there a trigger button for locking on and firing missiles.\u00a0 Here is a bigger shot of the flight stick.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/labov7\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18537\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"1054\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV7.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV7-71x150.jpg 71w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV7-142x300.jpg 142w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV7-486x1024.jpg 486w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Adventure Mode, when you put the JoyCon key into the flight stick, your vehicle transforms into an airplane.\u00a0 Steer it like how you normally would with a flight stick controller.\u00a0 Use the gas pedal to accelerate.\u00a0 You can also fire missiles for missions when you need to pop balloons in the air.\u00a0 While the flight controls are fun and responsive, they\u2019re certainly not realistic.\u00a0 When you slow down, you don\u2019t lose much altitude, for instance.\u00a0 But really the only problem that I had with the airplane is that it eats up fuel twice as fast as the other vehicles, making it only useful for travelling around the island quickly.\u00a0 Which is a shame since it\u2019s fun to just fly around.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/labov10\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18540\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10-150x74.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LABOV10-300x149.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are a couple of other little things you can build with the Vehicle Kit.\u00a0 One is an extra JoyCon key.\u00a0 Then you can put another JoyCon with the IR camera into one of the other controllers while player one is driving, and the second one will ride with them and can do things like fire bombs and such.\u00a0 So that\u2019s kind of neat.\u00a0 I forgot to mention in the car article that there is another two player mode where you can battle with two cars, but that requires another steering wheel and gas pedal to build!<\/p>\n<p>But I think my favorite extra thing you can build is a spray can.\u00a0 You can customize the look of your vehicles\u2019 and riders\u2019 colors, and you use the spray can to do it.\u00a0 Just point it with the JoyCon inside at the screen to start painting!\u00a0 You can even use the IR camera and put things in front of it, like your hand, and paint like you\u2019re using stencils!\u00a0 To reset the camera, you just shake the can.
