First you\u2019ll fire your spacecraft from the mothership, and use the L stick to point where you need to go and the button to turn on your thrusters.\u00a0 It\u2019s kind of like how you control older arcade games like Asteroids or Gravitar.\u00a0 Use the R stick to aim and the R shoulder button to fire any plasma balls you\u2019ve collected into the sun.\u00a0 Once all the plasma balls are collected and fired into the sun (or suns), the level is completed.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not that easy!<\/p>\n

The first thing you have to watch out for is your fuel.\u00a0 When you use your thrusters, you\u2019ll deplete your supply of gas.\u00a0 Run out and you\u2019ll have to start the level over again.\u00a0 Save fuel by catching a ride on a planet\u2019s gravitational orbit.\u00a0 When you fire plasma into the sun, it\u2019ll send out a solar flare, which can give you a nudge, which is another way to save on fuel.\u00a0 But don\u2019t stay in the sun too long!\u00a0 If you do, your shields will deplete, and if you run out, you\u2019ll explode and have to start over. \u00a0But when you are in the shade of a planet, your shields will refill, so planets are definitely your friends. If all this sounds complicated, don\u2019t worry!\u00a0 The game\u2019s tutorial levels do a great job of explaining every aspect of the game to you.<\/p>\n

If you can finish a level without using too much fuel or shield power, and can beat it quickly, you\u2019ll get stars.\u00a0 But it\u2019s really hard to get more than one star per level!\u00a0 And that\u2019s really the game\u2019s biggest problem.\u00a0\u00a0 Only a dozen levels in and the game just gets downright brutal!\u00a0 Plus the action feels a little slow sometimes.\u00a0 But if you enjoy classics like Asteroids, Gravitar, Solar Jetman, or even Star Trigon, and love a challenge, then this game may be for you.<\/p>\n

Other than your spaceship exploding when it hits a planet or runs out of juice, there\u2019s not really much violence in this game.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play.\u00a0 Younger gamers may get frustrated at the high difficulty, though.\u00a0 Solar Flux is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
