(iOS, Android)"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2019\/01\/30\/lifty-ios-android\/lifty_box\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18674\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-18674\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/LIFTY_BOX-150x110.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"110\" \/><\/a>\r\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Aside from Taito\u2019s Elevator Action series, there\u2019s not a whole lot of video games involving elevators as a main play point.\u00a0 But now there is with Lifty!\u00a0 Operate an elevator up and down as you pick up and drop off passengers to different floors.\u00a0 But it\u2019s trickier than you think!\u00a0 Lifty! is available as a free-to-play download on iOS and Android mobile devices, but reviewed on iPad here.<!--more--><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the game you tap on virtual buttons on the touch screen to move your elevator up and down floors.\u00a0 On some floors, little critters will walk by and need a ride on the elevator.\u00a0 Pick them up and take them to the floor that has their same color, and then they\u2019ll hop off.\u00a0 Pick up a certain amount of riders and drop them off to complete stages.\u00a0 You\u2019ll want to get as high as you can in the building, and you start off in an underground mine, then a subway, a parking garage, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But there are some things you\u2019ll need to watch out for. \u00a0Your elevator can only carry a certain number of riders, and some have different weights than others.\u00a0 So if your elevator has a carrying capacity of 3, you can pick up 3 little blue guys or one big orange guy (counts as 2) and one blue guy.\u00a0 And if a critter gets to the edge and has to wait for your elevator, a little meter above his head will count down and if it runs out, they\u2019ll get impatient and\u2026EXPLODE!\u00a0 Let that happen three times and it\u2019s Game Over.\u00a0 Along the way you can pick up power-ups that speed up your elevator and coins to buy checkpoints (more on that later). \u00a0For 99 cents you can buy other elevators that have different speeds and carrying capacities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It\u2019s really the free-to-play nature of this game that annoys me.\u00a0 After every level, you must view an ad, and they\u2019re pretty long ones so that got a little old.\u00a0 You can spend money to keep ads from happening, though.\u00a0 I also wish the up and down buttons were a bit bigger, as I kept missing them with my thumb.\u00a0 By playing and completing levels, you can earn coins.\u00a0 Use those coins to buy checkpoints so you can start from there on your next playthrough.\u00a0 But that\u2019s a bit counter-conducive to mobile games because if you have to stop for whatever reason and quit the game, next time you start it up, if you don\u2019t buy a checkpoint you must start the whole game over from the bottom.\u00a0 And the game gets pretty hard, too!\u00a0 I love the simple gameplay and cute characters, but that checkpoint system really turned me off from this game.\u00a0 I think it would\u2019ve been a better arcade title.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/lifty_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"888\" class=\"wp-image-18675\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/LIFTY_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/LIFTY_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/LIFTY_SCREEN-84x150.jpg 84w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/LIFTY_SCREEN-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So when your little elevator riders get impatient and explode, you can see bits and pieces of them flying, as well as their eyeballs.\u00a0 But that\u2019s about as violent as it gets and it\u2019s no worse than what happens to the coyote in the Road Runner cartoons.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for the text, and younger gamers may find it a bit difficult.\u00a0 Parental supervision is recommended for the in-game ads and purchases.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Elelator go up, eletator stop.
