\"\"<\/a>Remi is a high school student who is cleaning her library with a broom one day.\u00a0 But when she dusts off an old book, it starts talking and she panics.\u00a0 The book, named Lore, is a magical spellbook that transports her to a magical realm infested with robots.\u00a0 Now it\u2019s up to Remi and the magical book to fight off the horde of mechanical monsters to find the portal so Remi can go back home.\u00a0 RemiLore is a randomly generated hack and slash dungeon crawler action game, and it\u2019s available to download for nearly all current game consoles, but reviewed on Switch here.<\/p>\n

You view the action in a 3-D isometric view, and can make Remi run, dash, use a weapon to attack in real time, and cast spells.\u00a0 You\u2019ll travel through mazes and rooms that are randomly generated each time you play, and must defeat all the enemies in an area to move on.\u00a0 Defeated enemies will drop behind dessert treats.\u00a0 Collect these to increase your \u2018dessert points.\u2019\u00a0 Use your dessert points on the pause screen at anytime to upgrade your attacks, spells, and other things.\u00a0 Every so often, you\u2019ll run into treasures that contain weapons and shops that also sell weapons as well as refill your health and magic meters.\u00a0 You\u2019ll use dessert points there, too.\u00a0 But you can only hold one weapon at a time, and those are random as well, so each playthrough may be a little different.\u00a0 You can choose to play the game with the story mode, which has a lot of text, or just play through without it in single player or with a friend in co-op.<\/p>\n

RemiLore has some problems, though.\u00a0 Hit detection feels a little off, and the game is very hard right off the bat.\u00a0 The game is stingy with healing potions and you\u2019ll probably die a lot.\u00a0 When you do, you can keep your upgrades, but must start over at the last act with your basic broom weapon.\u00a0 I found that rather annoying and made progression in the game slower and more tedious than fun.\u00a0 Plus all the game\u2019s voices are all in Japanese, and they like to talk a lot while you play.\u00a0 There are text boxes to translate what they say, but it\u2019s a little distracting.\u00a0 Only die-hard dungeon crawler fans will enjoy this one.<\/p>\n

RemiLore is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Alcohol Reference, Crude Humor, Fantasy Violence, and Language.\u00a0 You hit robots with silly weapons and they explode when defeated, but that\u2019s it.\u00a0 The other descriptors are mostly in the text only.\u00a0 Reading skill is a must for the text, and younger gamers may find the game too difficult.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
