You can also race online but you\u2019ll need Nintendo\u2019s paid online service for that.<\/p>\n<p>Controls are pretty standard for a high speed racer.\u00a0 One neat thing you can do is use the right analog stick to strafe left and right to help you turn.\u00a0 You can also point it up or down, which tilts the nose of your car up and down as well.\u00a0 This is handy on steep hills and loops, as it keeps your car from scrubbing the bottom of the road.\u00a0 You\u2019ll want to make sure you don\u2019t hit any walls or scrub the road as much as possible, because your car can take damage.\u00a0 If it takes enough damage, it\u2019ll explode, which can either slow you down or take you out of the race entirely, depending on what mode you\u2019re in.<\/p>\n<p>The game does have a few problems, though.\u00a0 Even with the neat control options, steering is still way too loosey-goosey and I kept running into walls anyway.\u00a0 Graphics are good but sometimes it was hard to tell where to land after a jump.\u00a0 Plus the CPU opponents are set way, way too hard.\u00a0 I could never come in anywhere higher than fifth place.\u00a0 I\u2019d say this game is for racing pros only.\u00a0 I guess it\u2019ll have to do until Nintendo gets off their butts and releases a new F-Zero game, which I think they should do, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/redout_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19087\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/REDOUT_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/REDOUT_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/REDOUT_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/REDOUT_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The futuristic hovercars can explode, but that\u2019s about as violent as it gets.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, and younger players may find this game way too difficult.\u00a0 Redout is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Redout is a high speed futuristic racing game very similar to titles like F-Zero.\u00a0 Pick a hovercar and zoom around planetary tracks with loops, cylinders, and more.\u00a0 It\u2019s available on nearly all current game consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.
