{"id":20192,"date":"2020-06-17T00:01:21","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T00:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=20192"},"modified":"2020-05-29T01:44:01","modified_gmt":"2020-05-29T01:44:01","slug":"knight-squad-switch-xbox-one-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/17\/knight-squad-switch-xbox-one-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Knight Squad (Switch, Xbox One, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/knight_box-3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-20190\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_BOX-110x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"110\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_BOX-110x150.jpg 110w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_BOX.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 110px) 100vw, 110px\" \/><\/a>Play as one of several multicolored knights as you battle it out in top down viewed arenas in a gameplay style similar to Gauntlet or Atari\u2019s Combat on 2600.\u00a0 Up to eight can go at it locally or online in this title available for Switch, Xbox One, and PC (reviewed on Switch here).<\/p>\n<p>First you\u2019ll choose your knight to play as, and each is a different color.\u00a0 There\u2019s even a rainbow one!\u00a0 You\u2019ll then go at it in top down single screen arenas.\u00a0 You can swing your sword to kill other players, or find power-ups that can give you a boost.\u00a0 Some include speed ups, shields, and new weapons and magic like long range arrows or lightning spells.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few modes of play.\u00a0 Challenge Mode is more single player centric, but up to 8 can join in here as well.\u00a0 You\u2019ll have to attempt challenges like shooting all the enemies and their bases as quick as you can, fight some Zelda-style worm bosses, etc.\u00a0 You\u2019ll get a score based on how fast you complete these challenges.\u00a0 Versus Mode is the meat of the game.\u00a0 Here you\u2019ll pick different arenas and rules.\u00a0 Some are general deathmatches, while others have you play soccer, destroy all the enemies\u2019 gems, capture the flag, etc.\u00a0 The last mode lets you watch a bunch of computer controlled bots battle it out.\u00a0 Not sure why you\u2019d want to do that, but it\u2019s there if you do.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s pretty much the game.\u00a0 I do wish that it had more single player content, like maybe actual mazes and an adventure or something like that.\u00a0 And the game checks leaderboards after every match, so if you\u2019re not connected online it can get a little annoying.\u00a0 But if you enjoy multiplayer games like Gauntlet, Bomberman, or Combat, then you may want to check this one out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/knight_screen-3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20191\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/KNIGHT_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Knight Squad is rated E-10 with an ESRB descriptor of Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You can hit other players with weapons and spells, and they turn into bones and stay there for a while.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, and younger gamers may find it too difficult.\u00a0 Since up to eight players can go at it, the whole family can join in here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Play as one of several multicolored knights as you battle it out in top down viewed arenas in a gameplay style similar to Gauntlet or Atari\u2019s Combat on 2600.\u00a0 Up to eight can go at it locally or online in this title available for Switch, Xbox One, and PC (reviewed on Switch here).
