{"id":20208,"date":"2020-06-22T00:01:06","date_gmt":"2020-06-22T00:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=20208"},"modified":"2020-06-10T00:02:31","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T00:02:31","slug":"awesome-pea-2-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/22\/awesome-pea-2-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Awesome Pea 2 (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pea_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-20203\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/PEA_BOX-150x84.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"84\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/PEA_BOX-150x84.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/PEA_BOX.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>There are plenty of retro-styled games out there now that imitate the look of 8- and 16-bit games, but not so many that recreate the pea soup green hues of the original Game Boy!\u00a0 But now you can play one ironically starring a little green pea!\u00a0 Awesome Pea 2 is a super hard 2-D platformer in the vein of other popular ones like Super Meat Boy.\u00a0 I never played the original Awesome Pea, so I don\u2019t know if the sequel has any significant improvements, but I\u2019m going to make a guess that it\u2019s just more of the same.\u00a0 Awesome Pea 2 is available to download on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.<\/p>\n<p>Controls couldn\u2019t be simpler.\u00a0 Use the d-pad to make your little pea roll left and right, and press a button to jump and again in midair for a double jump.\u00a0 And that\u2019s it.\u00a0 You must avoid fireballs, spikes, and spinning saw blades.\u00a0 If you hit one, you must start the level over.\u00a0 Coins are scattered throughout the level, and you must nab them all to get the trophies assigned to each stage.\u00a0 There are around a couple dozen stages in all.\u00a0 You can select and replay stages on a map screen, and that\u2019s pretty much the game.<\/p>\n<p>Since there really isn\u2019t a story here, the stages don\u2019t have any natural progression.
