{"id":20773,"date":"2021-01-18T00:01:31","date_gmt":"2021-01-18T00:01:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=20773"},"modified":"2020-12-11T14:26:20","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T14:26:20","slug":"splashy-cube-switch-mobile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2021\/01\/18\/splashy-cube-switch-mobile\/","title":{"rendered":"Splashy Cube (Switch, Mobile)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/cube_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-20771\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_BOX-150x67.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"67\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_BOX-150x67.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Splashy Cube is a minimalistic action game where you maneuver a cube through an ever collapsing obstacle course filled maze as you try to make it to the goal.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what\u2019s so splashy about it, but the game is available on Switch and mobile devices, but reviewed on Switch here.<\/p>\n<p>You view the action in a 3-D isometric perspective.\u00a0 You press the L and R buttons to rotate and move your cube one space up left or right.\u00a0 You can\u2019t back up, you must always move forward.\u00a0 But you wouldn\u2019t want to go backwards anyway because the level is always collapsing behind you, so you have to hurry!\u00a0 Maneuver your cube around obstacles like blocks, pits, spikes, and moving sawblades.\u00a0 If you hit a dangerous object or fall off, you must start the level over again.\u00a0 But luckily the levels aren\u2019t too long if you do have to start again.<\/p>\n<p>Try to roll over dots that are the same color as your cube.\u00a0 If you do, you\u2019ll get bonus points, and if you roll over a bunch at a time, you\u2019ll get combo bonuses, too!\u00a0 Just avoid dots that aren\u2019t the same color as your cube, if you touch one, you must start the level over.\u00a0 By reaching certain objectives, you can unlock new skins for your cube, including a house, block of cheese, or square shaped kitty cat!\u00a0 Really the only minor problem I had with this one is that sometimes it can be hard to plan your path and you might get stuck, but you can always try again and the levels are randomly generated.\u00a0 Some may say this game is TOO simplistic, and it certainly feels like it would fare better on mobile devices.\u00a0 But it\u2019s still a fun little time waster.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/cube_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20772\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/CUBE_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nothing violent or objectionable here.\u00a0 If your cube gets hit by a spike or other obstacle, it\u2019ll just fly off the screen.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the menus, but not necessary just to play.\u00a0 Splashy Cube is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Splashy Cube is a minimalistic action game where you maneuver a cube through an ever collapsing obstacle course filled maze as you try to make it to the goal.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what\u2019s so splashy about it, but the game is available on Switch and mobile devices, but reviewed on Switch here.
