\"\"<\/a>Pok Pok Playroom is a mobile app with activities for young kids to do.\u00a0 They\u2019re not really \u2018games\u2019 per se, just fun little quiet time things to mess around with.\u00a0 You pay a monthly subscription and then your kids can play it without ads and you don\u2019t need to go on the Internet to play, so that\u2019s nice.\u00a0 There are no words so kids can play with no help from parents.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a list of the games on here so far.\u00a0 I imagine that in the future, they can update it with more activities.\u00a0 But for now there are six things to do.\u00a0 Since there are no words, I gave each activity my own names, just so you know.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying Cars\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think of all the activities on here, this one\u2019s my favorite.\u00a0 You know those rugs you can get that have roads and houses on them so kids can play \u2018cars\u2019 on them?\u00a0 Yeah I wish we had those kinds of rugs when I was a kid, I think I\u2019d use the heck out of them back then.\u00a0 Anyway, that\u2019s what this game is like.\u00a0 You have a town with all sorts of cars you can drag across the roads using the touch screen.\u00a0 Buses, garbage trucks, bulldozers, etc.\u00a0 There are also people and animals you can tap on and drag around, too.\u00a0 I put a sheep in a farm tractor and drove that around.\u00a0 Some of the buildings are interactive, too.\u00a0 You can send the garbage trucks through a recycling center and I put a bulldozer in the car wash. \u00a0That was pretty great.\u00a0 You can also drive around boats in a river.\u00a0 No airplanes in an airport or rocketships, though.\u00a0 Darn it!\u00a0 Maybe in the future they can make randomly generated towns for this mode so it\u2019s different every time.\u00a0 Anyway, I can see kids really liking this mode.\u00a0 I loved \u2018playing cars\u2019 as a kid and most kids I\u2019ve been around like that, too.\u00a0 Heck, I still like \u2018playing cars\u2019 with kids!\u00a0 I don\u2019t care, it\u2019s fun!<\/p>\n

\u201cDrawing\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a simple paint program where you draw with your finger on the touch screen.\u00a0 There is a slider that you can move up and down to erase your drawings.\u00a0 It kind of reminds me of those \u201cMagna-Doodle\u201d toys.\u00a0 When my little brother Jeff was very young, he LOVED playing with those Magna-Doodle toys and would wear them out and we\u2019d have to buy him new ones!\u00a0 Now you can get those toys at the dollar store, so there have been times where we\u2019ve bought one for him as a gag gift for Christmas, knowing how much he loved them when he was little!<\/p>\n

\u201cSwitches\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This mode has a bunch of different virtual knobs and buttons and levers and switches to play with, and they make all sorts of sounds and animations.\u00a0 It kind of reminds me of those baby activity centers you can clip on the side of a crib, or ones that you can put on a high chair or car seat or whatever.\u00a0 The screen looks like an aircraft dashboard with all the buttons and switches!<\/p>\n

\u201cWords\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

No there\u2019s not really any words here, just TONS of objects, animals, and people you can click on and they\u2019ll do different things.\u00a0 I think this mode would be played best by a parent and child together.\u00a0 The parent or child could tap on something and the parent could say the name of whatever was tapped on, or try to get the child to name it.\u00a0 Really good vocabulary building activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cShapes\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a bunch of shapes you can drag around and bump and bounce into other shapes and they\u2019ll react different with sounds and whatnot.\u00a0 Some shapes bounce around, others are oozy like jelly.<\/p>\n

\u201cDress Up.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Different pieces will fall down from above and you can stack them to make people or animals.\u00a0 Some are heads, middles, bottom legs, etc.\u00a0 You can make totem poles or other monstrosities.<\/p>\n

Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n

And those are all the games!\u00a0 This is a very high quality program, but I can\u2019t help but think when kids get to a certain age, like six or so, that they may want more goal-oriented games and might get bored with this.\u00a0 And while this would be perfect for younger kids, some parents may not be comfortable with them playing on their expensive and breakable devices for that long.\u00a0 Plus many of these activities would be just as fun with regular toys, books, blocks, etc.\u00a0 But there are times when these toys aren\u2019t available, like car trips and such, so that\u2019s where this program would work best.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
