animals, talking with her friends and playing mini-games to gather everything she needs to have the best tea party ever. Teacup is available on nearly every current game console, but reviewed on PS4 here.

In the game you’ll control Teacup as she walks through various locations. You’ll get a map early on that you can fill in as you progress. In each area are animals you can talk to by pressing a button. Sometimes they will give you clues to find what you need, while other times you may have to play a mini-game. These mini-games include arranging boxes, pressing a sequence of buttons, or finding hidden objects. You’ll also get a diary of everything you need for your party, and this diary has interesting facts on various tea leaves and ingredients, plus a real life recipe for tea cakes (basic sugar cookies).

While Teacup is a charming little adventure, it does have some problems. Some of the mini-games aren’t explained very well, and can be a bit frustrating. Most notably is the hidden pictures game, where I just resorted to moving the cursor around and hammering on the button to find everything. Luckily some of the other tougher games, like arranging gears in a lighthouse, has a help option. Some of the goals and objectives are also slightly unclear, and the game is a bit short and easy. I beat it in around two hours and got all the trophies. Teacup kind of reminded me of those Humongous point and click adventures for kids, except this one is a bit more advanced. And even with the problems, I still liked this one.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone
