the day.\u00a0 This little hero can fold into different shapes to solve puzzles, bypass obstacles, and defeat enemies.\u00a0 Flat Kingdom: Paper\u2019s Cut Edition is a 2-D puzzle platformer and is available on nearly all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.<\/p>\n<p>Controls are pretty simple.\u00a0 Just move left and right with the control stick and jump with the B button.\u00a0 You can collect hearts to refill your energy and coins that you can use to buy extra hearts at the beginning of most stages.\u00a0 The other buttons change your shape, and allow you to do specific things.\u00a0 Circle lets you double jump, triangle lets you run fast and do long jumps, and square lets you sink in water and push blocks, but you can\u2019t jump high.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously you can use these shapes to solve puzzles, but you\u2019ll also use them to defeat enemies.\u00a0 Each enemy is assigned a shape, and you\u2019ll use a rock-paper-scissors style attack to defeat them.\u00a0 This is where the game\u2019s problems lie, as it\u2019s not always easy to tell which shape an enemy is.\u00a0 Sometimes it\u2019s clear, like a snail with a square shell, but what shape is a paper whale?\u00a0 Because of the guesswork involved, I lost interest in it pretty quickly.\u00a0 Plus the paper motif has been done better in other games like Paper Mario, Yoshi\u2019s Crafted World, and Tearaway.\u00a0 It\u2019s not a totally bad game, but I\u2019ve played much better 2-D platformers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/flat_screen-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22205\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/FLAT_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/FLAT_SCREEN-150x85.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Flat Kingdom: Paper\u2019s Cut Edition is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Fantasy Violence and Mild Blood.\u00a0 You just stomp paper origami baddies that flatten when defeated, but I didn\u2019t notice any blood (come on, it\u2019s all paper).\u00a0 Reading skill is needed for the text, and younger gamers may have trouble with the
