{"id":22382,"date":"2022-07-06T00:01:56","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T00:01:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=22382"},"modified":"2022-06-14T12:33:33","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T12:33:33","slug":"okinawa-rush-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2022\/07\/06\/okinawa-rush-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Okinawa Rush (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/okinawa_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-22367\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_BOX-150x70.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"70\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_BOX-150x70.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_BOX.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Okinawa Rush is a 2-D martial arts action game that looks like it jumped right off the Super Nintendo.\u00a0 Or more specifically, it reminds me of NEO GEO games, too.\u00a0 It\u2019s available on most current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.<\/p>\n<p>There are two main modes.\u00a0 Arcade mode puts you right into the action with minimal story sequences and three selectable characters right off the bat.\u00a0 Story Mode has more, well, story, as well as a training section with a special tutorial level and mini-challenges.\u00a0 In both modes, you can move left and right and jump super high, and combos with the directional buttons and attack buttons can make you perform all sorts of punches, kicks, and throws.\u00a0 You can also pick up and toss weapons at ninjas as well as parry.<\/p>\n<p>Even though checkpoints are frequent, holy cow is this game hard!\u00a0 And you only get two continues, even on Story Mode, before you have to start the stage over again.\u00a0 They just throw so much stuff at you.\u00a0 This game really needs a difficulty selection or something.\u00a0 That\u2019s why I didn\u2019t get very far and it\u2019s also way I didn\u2019t like the game very much.\u00a0 I think I would\u2019ve liked it more if it weren\u2019t so brutal, especially since it\u2019s a 16-bit styled game.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/okinawa_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22368\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/OKINAWA_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Okinawa Rush is rated T for Teen with ESRB descriptors of Blood and Gore, Violence, and Use of Tobacco.\u00a0 You punch and kick and use weapons on all manner of ninjas, and there are pixelated splashes of blood when anyone gets hit.\u00a0 But it\u2019s no worse than any arcade game from the 90s.\u00a0 But because of this and the high challenge level, the game is best for older players.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Okinawa Rush is a 2-D martial arts action game that looks like it jumped right off the Super Nintendo.\u00a0 Or more specifically, it reminds me of NEO GEO games, too.\u00a0 It\u2019s available on most current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
