{"id":22507,"date":"2022-08-17T00:01:23","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T00:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=22507"},"modified":"2022-07-29T22:24:34","modified_gmt":"2022-07-29T22:24:34","slug":"capcom-arcade-2nd-stadium-part-2-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2022\/08\/17\/capcom-arcade-2nd-stadium-part-2-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium: Part 2 (PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/capcom2-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-22497\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM2-150x86.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"86\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM2-150x86.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM2.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>There are so many games on Capcom Arcade 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Stadium that I had to split my review into two parts!\u00a0 So here we\u2019ll look at the rest of the games on this collection, as well as my general overall impressions and Kid Factor!\u00a0 Let\u2019s keep going!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Black Tiger<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I hate to start things off with \u2018one time at band camp,\u2019 but that\u2019s how this goes.\u00a0 During the summer between 8<sup>th<\/sup> and 9<sup>th<\/sup> grade I went to band camp and it was held in college dorms but the college kids were out for the summer so we got the empty dorms.\u00a0 In the boys\u2019 dorms lobby, they had a couple of arcade machines.\u00a0 One was Track and Field, and that\u2019s where I learned all the secrets in that game.\u00a0 The other one was Black Tiger.\u00a0 I played that one a lot there, too.\u00a0 It\u2019s a 2D platformer with a fantasy theme and is similar to Ghosts N Goblins.\u00a0 Not quite as frustrating though, but still super hard.\u00a0 There was going to be a NES version at one point, but it got canned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Block Block<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All the big arcade game makers, Namco, SEGA, Capcom, Konami, etc., have copied one another.\u00a0 When someone creates a huge hit, they all have to copy it.\u00a0 Such is the case with Block Block. \u00a0When Taito made the huge hit Arkanoid, Namco had to copy it with Quester and Capcom did the same with Block Block.\u00a0 And heck, even Arkanoid is a rip off of an older game!\u00a0 It\u2019s just a block breaking paddle game, but I like Arkanoid more.\u00a0 All the copycats get forgotten and everyone just remembers Arkanoid anyway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Capcom Sports Club<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Choose between three different arcade style sports games and play with cartoony characters.\u00a0 You can do soccer, basketball, or tennis.\u00a0 Basketball is the best one of the bunch, but none of them are that great.\u00a0 And it\u2019s super hard, too!\u00a0 Capcom isn\u2019t really known for its sports games.\u00a0 If the best they can do is Mega Man Soccer, you know that\u2019s not their strong point.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eco Fighters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a horizontally scrolling shooter but oh no!\u00a0 It\u2019s got that tired old early 90s \u2018save the environment\u2019 theme!\u00a0 Aside from that, I actually liked this one, though.\u00a0 The graphics kind of reminded me of Mega Man.\u00a0 Gameplay also reminds me of two other Capcom games: U.N. Squadron and Forgotten Worlds.\u00a0 You can rotate your shots with the L and R buttons like in the latter title.\u00a0 The weapon power ups you get kinda suck, though.\u00a0 Don\u2019t remember seeing this one in arcades back then.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gun.Smoke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This one\u2019s a vertically scrolling shooter, but instead of the tired old spaceship themes, you are a cowboy in the Old West!\u00a0 The thing that holds this game back is that when you continue, you must start back at a checkpoint instead of right where you left off.\u00a0 I hate that.\u00a0 I rented the NES version of this game a TON back as a kid, though.\u00a0 Really loved that version.\u00a0 Did you know that Red Dead Redemption has ties to this game?\u00a0 I won\u2019t go into it here, though.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Avengers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a reason why most beat \u2018em ups use a side scrolling perspective.\u00a0 This one is viewed top down and it just doesn\u2019t work!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hyper Dyne Side Arms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This one feels like a transition game between Section Z and Forgotten Worlds.\u00a0 It\u2019s a horizontally scrolling shooter but you can shoot to the front and back of you.\u00a0 But the graphics remind me of Forgotten Worlds more.\u00a0 It\u2019s an all right game.\u00a0 Not great, but not bad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Last Duel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They couldn\u2019t decide what kind of vertically scrolling shooter this should be!\u00a0 First you\u2019re on a road and must jump over obstacles and not go over the edge.\u00a0 And then you are flying in a giant living organism!\u00a0 It\u2019s very hard, too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rally 2011 LED Storm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a futuristic vertically scrolling car racing kind of game with an annoying talking car.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Savage Bees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I think this is one of Capcom\u2019s first games.\u00a0 Like, Vulgus was the first and this was the second.\u00a0 It was also called Exed Exes.\u00a0 It\u2019s a typical vertically scrolling shooter with lots of bugs to shoot and honeycombs to fly over.\u00a0 And the music is annoying.\u00a0 You don\u2019t get power ups nearly often enough for my liking, either.\u00a0 But it does have some of Capcom\u2019s most familiar icons, like the Yashichi and Pow items!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Speed Rumbler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another top down shooter.\u00a0 This one gives you a car to drive around in, but if it runs out of energy and starts to flash, you\u2019d better press the button to get out or you\u2019ll get caught in the explosion and die! But when you step out of the car, your little tiny man can only take one hit!\u00a0 So it\u2019s a tough game!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tiger Road<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a scrolling beat \u2018em up, but you can\u2019t move in and out of the foreground so it reminds me more of Kung Fu Master.\u00a0 The bosses are way too hard, though.\u00a0 There\u2019s a sequel to Son Son on the Turbo Grafix-16 but it plays more like Tiger Road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The King of Dragons<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next couple of games on this list are medieval fantasy themed.\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember seeing these games specifically in arcades, but I\u2019m sure I did, they probably just didn\u2019t stick out in my mind.\u00a0 It also doesn\u2019t help that Capcom also made a couple of beat \u2018em ups with the Dungeons and Dragons license, and if you showed me any of them, I couldn\u2019t tell you if that\u2019s what they were or not.\u00a0 But in this first one, you could pick from five characters, like a Fighter, Cleric, Elf, or Dwarf.\u00a0 I picked the dwarf because I liked how he bellowed out \u201cHOOOOOAAAA\u201d before battle.\u00a0 Only other notable thing is that this one was pretty long, like 20 stages!\u00a0 Granted the stages were short and a lot of the enemies and bosses were pallet swapped, but it still took longer to beat!\u00a0 You can level up your characters and get new weapons and shields, but I don\u2019t know if they really do anything.\u00a0 You still take the same amount of damage and dish out the same amount to enemies no matter what level and weapons you have, at least from what I could tell.\u00a0 This one was also on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/29\/the-games-of-the-capcom-beat-em-up-bundle\/\"><strong>Capcom Beat \u2018Em Up Bundle<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knights of the Round<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the other medieval themed game on here.\u00a0 It\u2019s not as interesting as King of Dragons, though, because in that other game you fought all sorts of fantasy creatures like dragons, skeletons, and more.\u00a0 But in this one you just fight other knights in armor all the time.\u00a0 You can choose to be Arthur, Lancelot, or Percaval.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure how to spell that last name, but the arcade game wasn\u2019t sure either because they spelled it several different ways in it!\u00a0 I picked that last guy, though, because he used an axe and was really strong.\u00a0 Like in the last game, you can level up, which gives you more armor, but I couldn\u2019t tell that it did anything.\u00a0 The saving grace of this game is that you can ride a horse!\u00a0 It\u2019s funny to see the horse walk backwards, though! \u00a0There was a SNES version of this, but I never played it.\u00a0 This one\u2019s also on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/29\/the-games-of-the-capcom-beat-em-up-bundle\/\"><strong>Capcom Beat \u2018Em Up Bundle<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Magic Sword<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh man, I played this a ton when I was a kid.\u00a0 It\u2019s a side scrolling platformer hack and slash with a fantasy theme.\u00a0 You can pick up keys to open doors that house prisoners who can help you after you free them.\u00a0 Some of the helpers you can get include a ninja, amazon, and more.\u00a0 Just a really fun and simple late 80s\/early 90s Capcom arcade title.<\/p>\n<p>And those are all the games.\u00a0 I love the wide variety and quantity of games on here.\u00a0 You sift though them via a row of arcade machines, which is cool.\u00a0 There are also a ton of quality of life features.\u00a0 You can change the screen size and resolution, pick a frame background, choose the difficulty and more.\u00a0 You can also change the speed and rewind and fast forward, but that\u2019s a little hard to use.\u00a0 My only big problem is how they sell these games.\u00a0 You can buy the whole package for a lump sum, or buy each one separately. You can also buy an invincibility option.\u00a0 I just don\u2019t like how they nickel and dime you like that.\u00a0 Also I think if you have some of these games on other collections, like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/29\/the-games-of-the-capcom-beat-em-up-bundle\/\"><strong>Capcom Beat \u2018Em Up Bundle<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2022\/07\/29\/capcom-fighting-collection-ps4-switch-xbox-one-pc\/\"><strong>Capcom Fighting Collection<\/strong><\/a>, then you should get them free on this one, too.\u00a0 Also, just like these arcade games, I\u2019m old fashioned and would\u2019ve rather have had a physical version of this collection.\u00a0 I would\u2019ve paid full price for that!\u00a0 But otherwise this is still a great compilation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/capcom3\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22498\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM3.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM3-300x158.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CAPCOM3-150x79.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Capcom Arcade 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Stadium is rated T for Teen with ESRB descriptors of Blood and Gore, Violence, Use of Tobacco, Suggestive Themes, Partial Nudity, and Mild Language.\u00a0 There are a lot of fighting games here, so of course there is violence.\u00a0 Some even have splashes of red blood pixels when you hit someone.\u00a0 Some characters are seen smoking in the background, and mild language is used sparingly in the text.\u00a0 Some of the female characters wear revealing outfits and look like they\u2019re about to fall out of their clothes (Morrigan I\u2019m looking at you).\u00a0 But I grew up playing these kinds of games and I turned out OK.\u00a0 There really is something for everyone and any age on this collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are so many games on Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium that I had to split my review into two parts!\u00a0 So here we\u2019ll look at the rest of the games on this collection, as well as my general overall impressions and Kid Factor!\u00a0 Let\u2019s keep going!
