{"id":22547,"date":"2022-09-05T00:01:35","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T00:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=22547"},"modified":"2022-08-15T13:00:20","modified_gmt":"2022-08-15T13:00:20","slug":"book-quest-ps4-ps5-switch-xbox-one-x-s-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2022\/09\/05\/book-quest-ps4-ps5-switch-xbox-one-x-s-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Book Quest (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X\/S, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/book_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-22542\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_BOX-125x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_BOX-125x150.jpg 125w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_BOX-250x300.jpg 250w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 125px) 100vw, 125px\" \/><\/a>You are in a medieval fantasy world and one night a red ninja steals your family\u2019s magic book.\u00a0 The ghost of your grandfather requests that you get it back, as it holds mysterious powers.\u00a0 So you take up a sword and go on a quest to get the book back in this 2-D, 16-bit retro styled top down adventure.\u00a0 It\u2019s available on all current game consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.<\/p>\n<p>You just play as an ordinary guy as you walk around locations like villages and forests.\u00a0 You can swing your sword and roll out of the way.\u00a0 You\u2019ll battle enemies, gather clues and do fetch quests for townsfolks to get better items, and collect berries to quickly restore your health.\u00a0 Luckily there is text in the top corner of the screen telling you what to do next, which is nice.\u00a0 But a map would\u2019ve been helpful, too.\u00a0 Your health does restore over time, kind of like an old Ys game.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t really want to compare this game to a Zelda title because it\u2019s just not near as good.\u00a0 Gameplay is slow and dull, and using the menu to select items is clunky.\u00a0 Worst of all, you don\u2019t get a window of invincibility when you get hit, so enemies can corner you and drain your energy in a matter of seconds.\u00a0 Bosses especially like to use this tactic, so I lost interest in this one pretty quickly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/book_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22543\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BOOK_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Book Quest is rated E-10 with an ESRB descriptor of Fantasy Violence.
