{"id":23123,"date":"2023-03-20T00:01:48","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T00:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=23123"},"modified":"2023-01-29T13:44:39","modified_gmt":"2023-01-29T13:44:39","slug":"nos-new-operating-system-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2023\/03\/20\/nos-new-operating-system-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"nOS: New Operating System (Switch)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/nos_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-23121\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_BOX-150x96.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_BOX-150x96.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>nOS isn\u2019t really a game, but it has a lot of basic operations that a tablet or computer would have, but now you can do those things on your Switch.\u00a0 It has a calculator, picture gallery, a notepad, to do list, a simple paint program, and more.<\/p>\n<p>You can click on things by moving a cursor or using the touch screen in handheld mode.\u00a0 Everything works as you\u2019d expect, although sometimes you have to push buttons that aren\u2019t very intuitive to make things work.\u00a0 For instance, to open a picture, you must click on it, and then push another button while it\u2019s highlighted.\u00a0 It would make more sense to double click it like every other program out there.\u00a0 Luckily the top of the screen shows what buttons do what, so make sure to look above if you can\u2019t figure out how to do something.<\/p>\n<p>The picture gallery has some pre-installed images and you can even set them as your background.\u00a0 Some even have characters from other games from this publisher, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2022\/11\/07\/little-kong-jungle-fun-switch\/\"><strong>Little Kong: Jungle Fun<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 You can also use the paint program to draw your own pictures and save them and use them as backgrounds.\u00a0 There\u2019s even a sliding tile picture puzzle game with varying degrees of difficulty.\u00a0 Since most people have cell phones that do all of these things and more, I can\u2019t really imagine anyone really getting this.\u00a0 Although maybe it would be a good teaching tool for very young gamers who only have a Switch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/nos_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23122\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/NOS_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nothing violent or objectionable here.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text.\u00a0 Again, it could be considered a good teaching tool on how to use these interfaces for young gamers who don\u2019t have a cell phone or tablet, but only a Switch. nOS is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>nOS isn\u2019t really a game, but it has a lot of basic operations that a tablet or computer would have, but now you can do those things on your Switch.\u00a0 It has a calculator, picture gallery, a notepad, to do list, a simple paint program, and more.
