{"id":23186,"date":"2023-05-15T00:01:08","date_gmt":"2023-05-15T00:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=23186"},"modified":"2023-04-08T12:33:34","modified_gmt":"2023-04-08T12:33:34","slug":"sport-fun-swimming-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2023\/05\/15\/sport-fun-swimming-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"Sport &#038; Fun Swimming (Switch)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/swimming_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23177 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SWIMMING_BOX-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SWIMMING_BOX-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SWIMMING_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>This is a motion controlled fitness game where you try and \u2018swim\u2019 a set distance each day by moving your arms while holding Switch JoyCons to mimic swimming strokes.\u00a0 It kind of reminds me of another simple fitness game released on the Switch a couple of years ago called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/13\/jump-rope-challenge-switch\/\"><strong>Jump Rope Challenge<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When you start the game, you can choose which character you want to play as.\u00a0 There\u2019s a boy, girl, cat, dog, koala, and the cutest hammerhead shark you ever saw.\u00a0 You can also change the swimming stroke at any time, which can change the direction you rotate your arms and whether you alternate or swing at the same time.\u00a0 Your goal is to swim a set number of yards each day.\u00a0 The default goal is a bit long for younger gamers, but at least you can stop at any time and start again the same day and it saves how long you swam so far.\u00a0 Two can swim at the same time, too.<\/p>\n<p>When you swim a certain number of days or a certain distance, you can get a stamp for doing so.\u00a0 You get a stamp for swimming in all three locations (pool, beach, and lake).\u00a0 I thought by swimming for ten days you could unlock another character (which looks like a turtle), but I couldn\u2019t figure out how to use it in the game so that was disappointing.\u00a0 There is a big goal to swim the same distance as you would the Atlantic Ocean, but you\u2019d be playing this game for years before ever reaching that goal!\u00a0 Nothing wrong with the game overall but it\u2019s a bit too simplistic to be considered worthwhile, I think.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/swimming_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23178\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SWIMMING_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SWIMMING_SCREEN.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/SWIMMING_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nothing violent or objectionable here.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the menus, but not necessary just to play.\u00a0 I guess this game might be good for young kids who may be starting swimming lessons in the summer so they could practice swimming strokes and arm motions before then.\u00a0 Sport and Fun Swimming is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a motion controlled fitness game where you try and \u2018swim\u2019 a set distance each day by moving your arms while holding Switch JoyCons to mimic swimming strokes.\u00a0 It kind of reminds me of another simple fitness game released on the Switch a couple of years ago called Jump Rope Challenge.
