\"\"<\/a>My next Bowser confrontation was a different kind of challenge.\u00a0 A food related one!\u00a0 I really wanted to go to the Toadstool Caf\u00e9 restaurant at Super Nintendo World, and luckily we got in!\u00a0 I think this was one of the things I was looking forward to at the park the most!\u00a0 In Japan they have a couple of Kirby cafes with Kirby related food and gifts.\u00a0 I\u2019d really like to go to those, but I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll be going to Japan anytime soon, if ever.\u00a0 So I think this Mario themed restaurant is about as close as I\u2019ll get!<\/p>\n

Here’s a bigger shot of the front of the restaurant.\u00a0 I love the Toad house design.\u00a0 When you go in, you can scan your Power Up Band to pick from a big or small present, just like the Toad Houses in newer Mario games.\u00a0 I got some coins and a radish.\u00a0 And yes you do get stamps for those on the app.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So here\u2019s what you need to do to get in.\u00a0 When you first get to the park, IMMEDIATELY go to the front of the restaurant and scan a QR code so you can make a reservation time.\u00a0 This doesn\u2019t guarantee you\u2019ll get in.\u00a0 Then five minutes before your \u201creservation,\u201d come back and show them your text and if they have enough room, you\u2019ll get in a line.\u00a0 So even though you may have set a certain time, you may not get to eat until an hour later.\u00a0 That\u2019s what happened with us, anyway.\u00a0 The first part of the line we got our menus and stood in a room where Chef Toad was talking to us through a window.\u00a0 I have to say that even though Toad is my favorite character, after listening to that voice for 15 minutes, it got pretty annoying.\u00a0 My dad said it sounded like Minnie Mouse on drugs.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the front of the menu.\u00a0 There was a wide variety of food, like ribs and burgers, but most of it had an Italian theme, because Mario.\u00a0 Some of the appetizers were things like mushroom shaped garlic bread, that tomato and cheese sliced thing (which we got), and spaghetti dishes.\u00a0 I really wanted the Luigi burger (actually the description made it sound like a chicken sandwich) but I can get burgers anywhere so I wanted to get something a little more original, which you\u2019ll see in a bit.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And here\u2019s the back of the menu.\u00a0 One of the problems I had with this restaurant was that they were out of a few things I really wanted.\u00a0 Like one of the desserts and drinks.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And here\u2019s where you take your order.\u00a0 This took another 15 minutes.\u00a0 The customer service wasn\u2019t very good.\u00a0 I hate to complain, but I work in customer service and bust my butt doing my best, so when I see other customer service workers not doing the same, it upsets me.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After that you take your drinks and go inside and find a table and wait for your food.\u00a0 And that took another 30 minutes.\u00a0 One thing to keep in mind is that they don\u2019t refill your drinks, so don\u2019t drink all your drink before you get your food, especially if you get something super spicy (like we did).\u00a0 Another thing to know is that there are no restrooms in the restaurant.\u00a0 You have to go outside to the restrooms there, and I don\u2019t know how you\u2019d get back in.\u00a0 So just make sure you go potty before going in.\u00a0 One thing to note about the restrooms is that they were Mario themed, too!\u00a0 There was a mural of water enemies like Bloopers and Cheep Cheeps on the wall where you wash your hands, and the music in the background was from water levels!\u00a0 Sorry I didn\u2019t take any pictures of that, but I think that would be creepy, and probably illegal, to do that.<\/p>\n

Anyway, if there\u2019s one cool thing the restaurant gets right, it\u2019s the atmosphere.\u00a0 You really feel like you\u2019re in a big Toad house.\u00a0 The music in the background was ambient slower remixes of classic Mario tunes.\u00a0 I heard Bob-Omb Battlefield\u2019s music, the Comet Observatory song from Mario Galaxy, and the ending tune from Super Mario World.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the middle part of the restaurant.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

They also had windows you could look out of to see Toads walking about the Mushroom Kingdom as well the kitchen where they were preparing your food.\u00a0 Granted they were just TV screens, but it was fun to watch.\u00a0 Most of the time it was just Toads walking outside, but sometimes I caught a group playing leapfrog or jump rope.\u00a0 You can see my dad in the right corner of this picture, by the way, in case you wondered what he looks like.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But every so often, you\u2019d see storm clouds billowing up, and the Toads would look up and say things like, \u201cOh no!\u201d\u00a0 Even the lights on the inside of the restaurant would dim a little bit.\u00a0 Then you\u2019d see Bowser\u2019s airships fly by for an attack.\u00a0 Out one of the windows I spotted Mario chasing some Goombas and Luigi hiding in a pipe from a Bullet Bill.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure what caused the airships to finally go away, as there were windows all around and I couldn\u2019t see all of them.\u00a0 But I have to say they should probably repurpose Toadstool Caf\u00e9 into a fortress stronghold if it can withstand all those attacks!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though the wait time was way too long and the service wasn\u2019t great, at least the food was REALLY GOOD!\u00a0 So here\u2019s some pictures of what we ordered.\u00a0 We got two appetizers, shared an entr\u00e9e, and a dessert.\u00a0 The first was this Piranha Plant Caprese.\u00a0 This was that tomato and cheese sliced thing you can get at Italian restaurants sometimes.\u00a0 The Piranha Plant itself was just two tomato slices, cheese for the dots, and a string bean for the stem.\u00a0 I think I can make that, and I may try to on Mother\u2019s Day weekend or so.<\/p>\n

The other appetizer we got was the Yoshi\u2019s Favorite Fruit and Veggie Salad.\u00a0 We had to get Yoshi!\u00a0 The Yoshi eggs were croutons, and it had bits of fruit like strawberry slices and blueberries.\u00a0 There was even starfruit!\u00a0 I\u2019ve only seen and eaten starfruit two other times in my whole life!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But our big entr\u00e9e was Bowser\u2019s Fireball Challenge!\u00a0 Since my brother Jeff couldn\u2019t go to the park, we got this in honor of him since he adored Bowser when he was a kid.\u00a0 It was a giant one pound meatball with a Bowser head shaped puff pastry with some really good mushroom sauce at the bottom.\u00a0 There was even a plastic Bowser flag pick on top, which I kept.\u00a0 And sorry to spout a typical phrase, but this was one spicy meatball!\u00a0 It cleared out my sinuses!\u00a0 You even got some more hot sauce on the side if you wanted to torture yourself.\u00a0 But even though it was HOT, this was really good, too!\u00a0 I will say that you probably shouldn\u2019t order this for your kids, as I think it would be way too spicy for them.<\/p>\n

And finally our dessert.\u00a0 It was a tiramisu cake with a glob of whipped cream on top surrounded by sugar cookies.\u00a0 Come to think of it, I\u2019m surprised they didn\u2019t have Yoshi\u2019s Cookies for dessert!<\/p>\n
