{"id":23523,"date":"2023-08-14T00:01:11","date_gmt":"2023-08-14T00:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=23523"},"modified":"2023-07-15T11:46:16","modified_gmt":"2023-07-15T11:46:16","slug":"tiny-dragon-story-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2023\/08\/14\/tiny-dragon-story-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiny Dragon Story (Switch)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/tiny_box-4\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-23521 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_BOX-150x55.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"55\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_BOX-150x55.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_BOX.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>An evil wizard has stolen all of Tiny Dragon\u2019s treasures, so it\u2019s up to you to help get them back in this retro inspired 2-D platformer on Switch.\u00a0 The black and white graphics remind me of games I would\u2019ve played on the Apple ][+ I had as a kid.<\/p>\n<p>You play as a little dragon who can run, double jump, and breath fire to dispatch enemies.\u00a0 You select levels from a world map like a Mario game.\u00a0 In each level are three hidden optional treasures to collect, and to beat the stage you must light a giant torch at the end.\u00a0 Scattered about the levels are coins and you must spend those to unlock new paths with secret levels on the world map.\u00a0 Sometimes you must also collect keys to unlock doors, especially during the castle levels with a boss at the end.\u00a0 If you get hit by an enemy you\u2019ll lose a heart.\u00a0 Lose all hearts or fall into a pit or lava and you must start a level over again or at the last checkpoint.<\/p>\n<p>Play control is mostly responsive and the music is decent, too.\u00a0 My only problems with the game are minimal. Sometimes I wouldn\u2019t double jump when I wanted to, and some of the obstacles were a little annoying.\u00a0 The game is also a bit short.\u00a0 And fairly easy, too, but I didn\u2019t mind that.\u00a0 While I liked the retro graphics, I think I would\u2019ve preferred to have full color 8-bit or 16-bit style visuals.\u00a0 But otherwise this is a pretty decent quick little 2-D platformer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/tiny_screen-4\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23522\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"313\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_SCREEN.jpg 313w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_SCREEN-297x300.jpg 297w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TINY_SCREEN-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 313px) 100vw, 313px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tiny Dragon Story is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You just breathe fire at enemies that disappear in a puff of smoke when defeated.\u00a0 When you get hit, you just flash and fall off the screen.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play.\u00a0 Younger gamers may need a little help with the trickier jumps, though.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An evil wizard has stolen all of Tiny Dragon\u2019s treasures, so it\u2019s up to you to help get them back in this retro inspired 2-D platformer on Switch.\u00a0 The black and white graphics remind me of games I would\u2019ve played on the Apple ][+ I had as a kid.
