{"id":23770,"date":"2023-09-27T00:01:51","date_gmt":"2023-09-27T00:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=23770"},"modified":"2023-08-21T12:26:54","modified_gmt":"2023-08-21T12:26:54","slug":"pups-and-purrs-pet-shop-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/27\/pups-and-purrs-pet-shop-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"Pups and Purrs Pet Shop (Switch)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pups_box-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-23752\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_BOX-94x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"94\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_BOX-94x150.jpg 94w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_BOX-188x300.jpg 188w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_BOX.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 94px) 100vw, 94px\" \/><\/a>Now you can work at a pet store with Pups and Purrs Pet Shop.\u00a0 Do retail themed mini-games like scan barcodes, clean the floors, and stick on prices as well as take care of pets.\u00a0 All sorts of cats and dogs are waiting for you to play mini-games to brush, feed, and play with them.\u00a0 And when they\u2019re ready, you can find forever homes for them, too!\u00a0 This is actually a sequel\/spinoff to a game I reviewed a couple of years ago called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2021\/12\/22\/pups-and-purrs-animal-hospital-switch-ps4\/\"><strong>Pups and Purrs Animal Hospital<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are two main modes of play: Story Mode and Work Mode.\u00a0 Work Mode lets you play any of the mini-games you\u2019ve unlocked separately, but you\u2019ll probably spend most of your time in Story Mode, which is the main part of the game.\u00a0 The first thing you\u2019ll do is design your character and choose what outfit she\u2019ll wear.\u00a0 Although most of the time you wear an apron so it doesn\u2019t matter much.\u00a0 Then at work there are AM and PM shifts, but sometimes events come up that take up most of that time, so there\u2019s really no rhyme or reason.\u00a0 But they\u2019ll usually give you a chance to play at least a couple of mini-games each day.<\/p>\n<p>There are two main types of mini-games.\u00a0 The first are retail themed.\u00a0 Here you\u2019ll do things like move a vacuum cleaner left and right to clean the floor, tilt a scanner so it reads the barcode when checking out, or sticking on the correct price stickers.\u00a0 The other mini-games let you take care of pets.\u00a0 Those have you brushing pets, feeding them, cleaning them, and playing with them.\u00a0 When you do well on a mini-game you can unlock harder versions.\u00a0 The mini-games play a lot like what you do in Cooking Mama.\u00a0 You\u2019ll earn stamps the better you do at these games, and when you get enough, you\u2019ll level up and can advance the story and unlock new tasks.\u00a0 Surprisingly, none of the mini-games use motion controls this time.<\/p>\n<p>You can place pets in a playroom or display areas, and depending on where they are, they\u2019ll earn stars.\u00a0 When they have enough stars, they can be bought by customers.\u00a0 You can dress the cats and dogs up in outfits and accessories to help them stand out.\u00a0 Later on, customers can even request different breeds of pets and you can order them through a computer.\u00a0 At the end of each day, you\u2019ll earn money based on how well you did, and you can use that money to buy outfits and accessories for your character as well.<\/p>\n<p>I did have a few small problems with the game.\u00a0 It can get a bit repetitive and I wish the days lasted a little bit longer so you can do more things.\u00a0 You can also only select to be a girl character.\u00a0 Guys like pets, too! \u00a0But otherwise, this is a fine store and pet simulation for younger gamers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pups_screen-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23753\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_SCREEN.jpg 497w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_SCREEN-300x152.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/PUPS_SCREEN-150x76.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 497px) 100vw, 497px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nothing violent or objectionable here.\u00a0 Even though the game is fully voiced, it\u2019s all in Japanese so reading skill is still a must.\u00a0 Too bad they couldn\u2019t translate the voices.
