{"id":23938,"date":"2023-11-15T00:01:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T00:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=23938"},"modified":"2023-11-05T13:09:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-05T13:09:33","slug":"redraptor-ps4-ps5-switch-xbox-one-x-s-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2023\/11\/15\/redraptor-ps4-ps5-switch-xbox-one-x-s-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"RedRaptor (PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, X\/S, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/redraptor_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-23936\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_BOX-150x134.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"134\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_BOX-150x134.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_BOX.jpg 237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>RedRaptor is a 2D vertically scrolling shooter.\u00a0 It features an upgrade system, but otherwise pretty standard stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.<\/p>\n<p>Gameplay is simple, move around your spaceship with the control stick and hold down the button to fire.\u00a0 You can get hit multiple times, but when your energy is fully depleted, it\u2019s Game Over with no continues!\u00a0 When you shoot enough enemies, a meter will fill and when it\u2019s full you can press the triangle button to fire a powerful laser that lasts for a few seconds.\u00a0 You can pick up power-ups like shields and different types of shots.\u00a0 There are two modes, a campaign and arcade modes, but the latter is locked.<\/p>\n<p>The problem I had with this game is the upgrade system.\u00a0 After you lose, you can go to a menu to permanently upgrade your stats.\u00a0 Everything from your bullets, shot strength, health, wingmen, laser, and more.\u00a0 But what this means is that you start the game incredibly weak and must play the early stages over and over again to get strong enough.\u00a0 I wish they would\u2019ve just let you pick up the power-ups as you went along.\u00a0 Plus the dull graphics make it hard to see power-ups and bullets.\u00a0 The game totes that it\u2019s like a shooter from the 90\u2019s, but honestly I\u2019d rather just play a shooter from the 90\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/redraptor_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23937\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/REDRAPTOR_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>RedRaptor is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You just shoot spaceships that explode, and that\u2019s it.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the menus and text, but not necessary just to play.\u00a0 Younger gamers may find this one too difficult, though.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RedRaptor is a 2D vertically scrolling shooter.\u00a0 It features an upgrade system, but otherwise pretty standard stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
