{"id":24510,"date":"2024-05-27T00:01:01","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T00:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=24510"},"modified":"2024-05-01T12:26:18","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T12:26:18","slug":"timberdoku-switch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2024\/05\/27\/timberdoku-switch\/","title":{"rendered":"Timberdoku (Switch)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/timberdoku_box\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-24508\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_BOX-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_BOX-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_BOX.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Despite the title, Timberdoku doesn\u2019t have much to do with Sudoku, other than the playing field being the same.\u00a0 I imagine the \u2018timber\u2019 part of the title refers to the wooden brown color scheme this game adopts.\u00a0 It really plays more like a cross between Tetris and those tanogram puzzles.<\/p>\n<p>Gameplay is simple.\u00a0 Pick from three pieces at the bottom of the screen with the button, and then move them around with the control stick and place them on the field with the same button.\u00a0 If you make a line go from one side of the field to another, that line will disappear and give you more room.\u00a0 You can also clear out 3&#215;3 squares, but I\u2019m not sure exactly how that works.\u00a0 It happened sometimes, but other times it did not.\u00a0 But the game is over when you can\u2019t place any more pieces on the field.\u00a0 I wish you could rotate the pieces, but I guess that\u2019s part of the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>There are two modes of play.\u00a0 Endless lets you play as long as you can until you can\u2019t fit any more pieces, and you try to get a high score.\u00a0 Adventure has stages, and some require you to make a certain number of lines to fill a meter, and other levels have you clearing out certain colored jewels in lines.<\/p>\n<p>I really didn\u2019t have any problems with this game.\u00a0 Sometimes it was hard to lay pieces, but that\u2019s only because the Switch\u2019s JoyCon controllers suck.\u00a0 There\u2019s only one song, which is fine, but the slow sultry saxophone piece sounds like it should be in a movie I shouldn\u2019t be watching instead.\u00a0 Otherwise this is a pretty decent simple little puzzler.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/timberdoku_screen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24509\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/TIMBERDOKU_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nothing violent or objectionable here.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play.\u00a0 The game could be considered somewhat educational as it requires logic, thinking, and spatial skills.\u00a0 Timberdoku is rated E for Everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the title, Timberdoku doesn\u2019t have much to do with Sudoku, other than the playing field being the same.\u00a0 I imagine the \u2018timber\u2019 part of the title refers to the wooden brown color scheme this game adopts.\u00a0 It really plays more like a cross between Tetris and those tanogram puzzles.
