And that’s it! You start out in a hub area and there are doors with numbers on them. When you have enough teeth, you can enter the doors with that number on them. Teeth are hidden throughout the maze like levels. Sometimes you might have to flip a switch to open a passage, and you can collect all sorts of other items, too. I’m not sure what they do, because the game doesn’t tell you, but you can increase your health meter and the game said my attack increased at some point but I didn’t notice any difference.

And that’s really one of the big problems with the game is the lack of direction. I had no idea where to go or what I was supposed to be doing, I just followed my nose the whole time. Sometimes I would run across a tooth but couldn’t collect it for some reason. Not sure what was going on there. Also, hit detection is a bit off. There were plenty of times that I would clearly stomp on an enemy and it would register as a hit. I would be willing to forgive these problems since I did like the 16-bit style visuals and simple gameplay. But at some points you have to cross long stretches of instant kill spikes and can only jump on a tiny enemy to get across. And since the hit detection was so bad, I would oftentimes land on the spikes and have to start that area over again. After a time or two of that, I had enough.

Kid Factor:

Nothing too violent or objectionable here. When you stomp on enemies, they just disappear in a puff of smoke. When you get hit, you just say “Oh” and when you lose all your energy or fall into spikes or water, you just fall off the screen. Reading skill isn’t needed, but younger gamers may have trouble with some of the tougher jumps. Whne you pause the game you can get dental hygiene tips so I guess that’s good. Ginger the Tooth Fairy is rated E for Everyone.

Help a tooth fairy named Ginger, who also happens to be a rabbit for some reason, collect all the teeth in this basic 2D platformer. It’s available on PlayStation consoles, Switch, and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.
