{"id":24632,"date":"2024-07-03T00:01:24","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T00:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/?p=24632"},"modified":"2024-06-06T12:19:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T12:19:00","slug":"pool-party-switch-ps4-ps5-xbox-one-x-s-pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/2024\/07\/03\/pool-party-switch-ps4-ps5-xbox-one-x-s-pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Pool Party (Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X\/S, PC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pool_box-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-24625\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_BOX-150x126.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"126\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_BOX-150x126.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_BOX.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>This isn\u2019t the kind of pool party you\u2019re thinking of.\u00a0 Control a billiard ball as you roll and bounce other players in sports themed mini-games, including pool of course.\u00a0 This madcap, pick up and play multiplayer game for up to four is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.<\/p>\n<p>There are two modes: Local Play and Tournament, but they both seemed the same to me.\u00a0 You pick your pool ball and customize its color and style and then you can pick from several events.\u00a0 Up to four can play at the same time and you can assign as many CPU bots as you want.\u00a0 Controls in all the games are pretty much the same.\u00a0 Roll around with the control stick and kick with one button and dash roll with the other.\u00a0 When you dash roll, you can hold the button down to aim, too.\u00a0 Here are the events that you can choose from:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Party<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this one you play a bunch of the mini-games in a row and whoever reaches a certain amount of points first after a few rounds, wins.\u00a0 You can also play each game separately below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pool<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Roll around on a pool table and knock the balls of your color into holes for points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free For All<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This one\u2019s also played on a pool table, but instead of knocking balls into holes, you\u2019re pushing the other players into them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Football<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s Soccer to us Americans.\u00a0 Roll and kick the ball into the opponent\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tennis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More or less like Pong, really.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Idol<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When holding the idol, you get points, but if another player touches you, they get the idol.\u00a0 Try to hold onto it the longest by the end of the time limit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jinxed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kind of the opposite of Idol.\u00a0 Touch another player to \u2018curse\u2019 them, and try not to be cursed when time is up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sumo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Push the other players off a circular stage to win.\u00a0 Watch out because every so often, the outer layer of the stage will disappear and it\u2019ll get smaller!<\/p>\n<p>And those are all the games!\u00a0 Only problem I had with this one is that there could\u2019ve been more to it, and for some reason the game had no sound.\u00a0 Might be a bug they could patch, but it was an awfully quiet game!\u00a0 But if you need a simple pick up and play multiplayer romp, this one does the job just fine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/pool_screen-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24626\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_SCREEN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_SCREEN.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_SCREEN-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.gamerdad.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/POOL_SCREEN-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kid Factor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pool Party is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Fantasy Violence.\u00a0 You bump around billiard balls with eyes and push them off ledges and that\u2019s it.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful for some of the text, but not necessary just to play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This isn\u2019t the kind of pool party you\u2019re thinking of.\u00a0 Control a billiard ball as you roll and bounce other players in sports themed mini-games, including pool of course.\u00a0 This madcap, pick up and play multiplayer game for up to four is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.
