\"\"<\/a>I really don\u2019t keep up with the game streaming business, but apparently it\u2019s very popular.\u00a0 Some streamers even have their own characters and products and stuff.\u00a0 Such is the case with a group of streamers in Japan that I\u2019ve never heard of, but now they have their own game with Retro Revengers.\u00a0 Play as the characters from the streaming videos in a retro styled 2D platformer.\u00a0 But really what sold me on this game was that the music was done by the same composer who did the tunes for Mega Man and Shovel Knight (the music isn\u2019t as good here, but you can tell that\u2019s who did it at least).\u00a0 Anyway, Retro Revengers is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on Switch here.<\/p>\n

There are five characters you can play as, and for the first run, you\u2019ll play through each characters\u2019 stage one at a time.\u00a0 Each character has their own special skills.\u00a0 Some have rapid fire projectiles, while others have lobbing bombs.\u00a0 Each character also has different charged attacks and jumping power.\u00a0 One cartoony cat character can even climb on ceilings!\u00a0 Once you go through the five stages with each character, you\u2019ll play through harder versions of those stages, but this time you can switch between characters to bypass obstacles and nab all the secret treasures.\u00a0 Supposedly there are secret characters, too, but I didn\u2019t find any of those.\u00a0 Defeat a boss at the end of each level with a final boss rush and baddie at the end to beat the game.\u00a0 Really the only problem I had with this one is that it\u2019s awfully short.\u00a0 I beat it in an afternoon.\u00a0 And it wasn\u2019t that hard either.\u00a0 But while a lot of the streamers\u2019 in-jokes went over my head, I still had fun with this one while it lasted.<\/p>\n

Retro Revengers is rated T for Teen with ESRB descriptors of Blood, Violence, and Use of Alcohol. I didn\u2019t really notice any blood or alcohol, but you do hit enemies with pixel knives and fireballs and such.\u00a0 I did see a couple of bad words in the text, too.\u00a0 Reading skill is helpful and younger gamers may find some of the tougher sections too difficult.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
