It’s kind of a sequel/updated version of a game I reviewed about a year ago. Use a robot drill to search for treasure underground in 2D space. It kind of reminds me of Steamworld Dig mixed with a bit of Terraria and Dig Dug. Super Mining Mechs is available on all current consoles and PC, but reviewed on PS4 here.

On the surface, you can talk to people who will give you missions. Complete those to unlock new blueprints for parts for your mech, which you can build with money and resources and they’ll make you move and dig faster, and hold more stuff. Other people will give you money or empty out the dirt in your machine so you can drill some more. You can also purchase items like bombs and platforms to dig on. You can travel to other planets, too! When you reach certain digging milestones, you may come across an underground mine you can use as a base camp so you don’t have to go all the way to the surface to do all this stuff. If you’ve played the first game, you’ll know what to expect here. Just more of the same.

Play control is simple, just move down and left and right to dig and collect goods. You can press buttons to use bombs and other items, although I found they don’t explain that very well. That’s one of the problems with the game, as well as the text being too small and gameplay being too slow and repetitive. But if you liked the first game, here’s more of that for you.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" Factor:

Super Mining Mechs is rated E for Everyone with ESRB descriptors of Mild Fantasy Violence and Mild Language. I really didn’t notice any bad language in the text
