It’s always kind of sad when the PlayStation 3 gets a terrific exclusive. Games like Resistance are rare indeed and I want to tell everyone I know to go and buy them (Resistance is not for kids!) – but I can’t. All of my friends either have Wii, Xbox 360, handhelds or PCs. While it’s still not quite worth the price, the PS3 does have some great games, and now they have one of the “must plays” of the year in “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.”<\/p>\n

Uncharted feels like one of those 1930’s movie serials that Indiana Jones and Lara Croft are based on. The game casts players as a two-fisted, acrobatic, but realistic and failable adventurer who has a name but might as well be called “everyman.”\u00a0 He has a sense of humor, but is never corny. He’s got boxing skills, but takes a licking. He tends to wobble on jumps, narrowly escaping death rather than whirling and spinning like the Prince of Perisa. In short, he’s awesome because he’s believable. Surrounded by lush jungle graphics, a thrilling story with lots of twists, turns, and explosions – Uncharted delivers. Now add something never seen in gaming, and that’s great writing. The game makes you care about the story and protagonists in a way most games never come close to.<\/p>\n
It’s beautiful, powerful, the combat is satisfying and it packs a wallop of a story. Pity it’s stuck on the PlayStation 3 but at the same time, it’s nice to see the Sony fans have some bragging rights beyond Resistance: The Fall of Man.<\/p>\n
Uncharted is rated T-Teen and GamerDad will likely give it the 14+ seal.\u00a0 It’s got a lot of violent combat, but the emphasis is on puzzles, story, and daring do. Terrific fun for teens and adults.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
