My dad will not let me play C.O.R.E. on my new DSi. I\u2019m 11 years
\nold and i will be 12 next month. It only says Blood Gore and Language
\nmy Dad says \u201cNo because it is rated \u201cM\u201d) But yet he bought me
\ninFAMOUS for my PS3 and that has Blood Gore Drugs Alchohol EXCESSIVE
\nswearing and more violence than you could imagine. I have played
\ngames like starcraft which are just as bad if not worse. I also am
\nallowed to watch any PG-13 movies. Do you think i should be allowed to play C.O.R.E?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But not for any particular reason other than that your dad said no.\u00a0 I always side with the parent in these cases because I’m not here to convince parents it’s okay to let their kid play any game really.\u00a0 I know I’m famous for giving the Halo series the “ok” but even there I’m mainly just giving parents the info and letting them decide. I support almost any decision short of letting little kids (or most teens) from playing Grand Theft Auto. And even then I don’t really care either way. It’s none of my business. I don’t moralize.<\/p>\n

C.O.R.E. is a game I haven’t played. The ESRB says ‘Blood & Gore’ and it seems that you’re killing aliens here. It’s also on the DS, which means the graphics and sound are nothing compared to the PS3.\u00a0 InFAMOUS is a pretty harsh game, and I feel safe in saying that C.O.R.E. is probably less harsh than that – so if you’re asking “is my dad being inconsistent here?” I’d say – YES. But that’s the lovely power trip of being a parent.\u00a0 It might not be fair, but “because I said so” is a totally valid reason.<\/p>\n

Even if you find it frustrating.\u00a0 Also, be careful kid. A parent is just as likely to take the argument “But this game you let me play is WORSE!” as an excuse to take that InFAMOUS (another game I’m admittedly not all that familiar with personally) away from you. Again though, that’s up to him.<\/p>\n

Oh and, talk like a pirate day is today, innit?<\/p>\n
