Go international and visit Italy, France, China, and the USA as you challenge arcade-style games. Some even have the option of using the Wii Balance Board as well!

First create your profile character that you’ll use in the games. As you play each mini-game, you’ll unlock more clothes and costumes from around the world that you can dress your character in. In single player you can challenge one game or go on Journey Mode to play evemts in succession. Perform well and you’ll earn bronze, silver, and gold medals. Earn enough medals to unlock more games. In multiplayer mode, up to four players can compete in the challenges.

Play control is decent and you can view how to play each game before you start. Even though some games use the Balance Board, you DON’T have to own one to play. All games can use the Wii remote and nunchuck just fine.

There are about a dozen games in all. Aim the Wii remote and fling the nunchuck to toss pizzas to hungry folks in Naples, Italy. Or throw noodles at mischievous ninjas in Japan. Have a running race up flights of stairs to make it to the top of the Eiffel Tower, avoiding litter and pigeons along the way. Tilt the Wii remote left and right or lean on the Balance Board to stay on a bucking camel. Or lean with the remote or Balance Board to try and take straight pictures of the Statue of Liberty while on a rocking tour boat! Swing the Wii remote and nunchuck to play drums in rhythm for an animal safari rain dance, among other games.

World Party Games isn’t without its faults, though. Mainly that there’s already a glut of mini-game collections out on the Wii. A wider variety of games would’ve helped, and having to unlock the few games on here by earning medals is kind of a downer. But considering that the game is less than 20 bucks at most retailers, it can provide a few cheap thrills for the whole family. And it’s a lot less expensive than going on a world vacation, too!

Kid Factor:

World Party Games is rated E for Everyone with an ESRB descriptor of Mild Cartoon Violence. There are shooting gallery style games, but you’re just throwing food at people. There is a sumo wrestling game where you try to knock the opponent out of the ring, but it’s all silly, harmless violence and nobody gets hurt. Younger players might need help earning medals to unlock games. Reading skill is helpful for the text instructions, but there are also picture cues to show you what to do. It’s a stretch, but the game can also be considered somewhat educational as each mini-game is set in a different part of the world and has its own music and background landmarks. Might be a good introduction and kick-start to learn about geography.

Take a tour around the world and play motion-control based multiplayer party games along the way with World Party Games for the Wii.
