’08 dawns and Linda and I find ourselves reflective. No we didn’t over-indulge. We did swap with my folks – they got the kids at our house; we got a night in their deluxe apartment (condo) in the sky. Linda got us tickets to see the comedian Jim “Hot Pocket” Gaffigan (he’s the pale giant in those Sierra Mist commercials) and we ate at a fancy place called The Trocadero. Fun times. We’re reflective because of my heart attack in Sept. ’07. We have a lot to celebrate, a lot to look forward to, and the promise of a brand new year!<\/p>\n

GamerDad will remain much the same – only expect a lot more article links and announcements here. Since the kids are in school I’m bringing back my freelance career. Last year I did well working for Disney’s Family Fun.com and helping launch Disney Family Magazine. I also did some work for Common Sense Media. This year I’ll be helping a new hardcore website called CrispyGamer (Don’t Get Burned By Bad Games) launch. I’m doing a GamerParenting column and a Political one. They’ll leapfrog each other every Friday.<\/p>\n
Then there’s this brand new start-up called “What They Play” – they’re a site that’s fundamentally the same as GamerDad.com (I welcome competition because it’s all about helping parents). Same philosophy, same attitude, and we agree on games and violence issues too. I’ll be penning a weekly column there called “Ask GamerDad” – and I’ll handle incoming questions on various issues.<\/p>\n
I’ll keep on the book idea and continue reviewing games here. Watch this space!<\/p>\n
