Ah Dodge Ball. The sport of kings! Well, ok, not kingsナ itメs the sport of bullies, really. What else do you call a game where two groups of kids bean each other with rubber balls thrown at high (welt-raising) velocity? Ah yes, the joy of smashing your peers remains addictive. There probably isnメt a sport more appropriate to video gaming than this one.The game features two teams of squat, cartoonish looking bigheaded kids. Some are on the playing field and some reside in the back zone ready to scoot up a lob and nail an opponent in the back or from the side. The animations, particularly when a kid gets squashed, are amusing and, after all, they are also the point of the game. Amass points and win the match, move on to the next horde of bigheaded kids. There are several kinds of throws you can make to surprise your opponents, including a cool corkscrew throw and a straight up over handed bean ball. As you knock teams out you advance toward the World Competition (shades of South Park there) representing your favorite nation. You can also link up with an opponent for a little head-to-head action, which is the best way to dish out a little virtual pain on any bullies in the vicinity who lack your mad video gaming skills. Thankfully, this is a dodge ball experience where the welts arenメt included. Gotta like that. Kid Factor Schools are banning Dodge Ball. Wussy schools! If your kid misses beaning the wimps, or your kid wishes he could be the bully, your kid will like this one. Parents might even reminisce about the old Nintendo and Super Nintendo versions.
