The old fans of Nancy Drew snuggle with new sleuths for an adventure thatメs sure to interest both little girls and seasoned gamers.

Treasure in the Royal Toweropens with Nancy Drew stranded in Wickford Castle Ski Resort. With the blinding snow outside, Nancy and the other guests cannot leave the castle. So, Nancy follows the clues in search of the entrance to a secret tower that is hidden in the castle.

For this adventure, the auburn-haired sleuth leads us on an escapade creeping down dark stairways and climbing through elevator shafts. Strange sounds emit from behind the walls in Wickford Castle, and fuel Nancyメs drive to find the secret entrance to Marie Antoinetteメs Royal Tower. Nancy keeps in touch with George and Bess over the phone for hints, and offers a hand to new friends she makes along the way. Through conversations with the staff and visitors of the castle and ski resort, Nancy picks up clues. Some clues are helpful, but others lead to dead ends.

This mystery joins the traditional Nancy Drew books with an interactive adventure to bring the excitement of the stories into computer play. It is rated for ages 10 and up, and some of the puzzles are complicated for ages 8 to 10, but I encourage parents to play along with an eight year old.

Some of the puzzles are too hard even for the parents to solve, so thankfully there is a built in hint system. From her room, Nancy can phone her pals, George and Bess, or her boyfriend Ned, and ask for clues. However, their hints can be frustratingly ambiguous after wandering the castle for a day looking for answers. Fortunately, www.herinteractive.com also hosts a hints section for all of the Nancy Drew games.

Of course, the best part of the game is solving puzzles with your children. Donメt hesitate to ask your young detective to try their hand at the game or puzzle that your parental mind hasnメt been able to solve. You would be surprised at the detective perspective of a child sleuth. Two heads are certainly better than one, so this game is an excellent way for parents to get to know their kids by working together to find the Treasure in the Royal Tower.

Play a bit of this adventure for free, and see if you might like the game (Must have Shockwave installed into your browser).
