A strong storyline and some excellent attention to detail bring this young girl's classic to life. The house creaks and groans, the wind off the moors, it all supports the dark and creepy mood. No music at all, which I thought was odd. The voice work is well done but please remember this game is for lower-end hardware so the lip-synch and facial animations reflect that. My daughters played it for the most part, and they figured it out in about 15 hours (the site says it's worth 25 hours). Bess, George and the Hardy brothers aren't on hand to help out Nancy this time around, but having a sister to bounce ideas off really helped. There was an occaisional plaintive, "Mommmmmm!" coming out of their corner of the office, but I let them splash through it. ![]() Everyone's a suspect, and it'll take a sharp mind indeed to unravel the mystery. This one is a lot harder than the previous installment. Even on the easier mode. The puzzles are harder, and there are a couple spots where they could have taken a couple hints from the Myst guys - don't make people do hard/annoying things over and over! There are a lot of really fun mini-games included. Not exactly Pandora's Box grade, but the jigsaw puzzle was fun, and so is their version of Go Fish. They also provide a lot of helpful information so I'd recommend you give them all a try. ![]() Just keep snooping around with the occaisional break for a mini-game and you'll get there. One of the coolest features of novice detectives is the "Second Chance" feature. This lets you re-do things in case you mess them up. Be careful and don't squander them, though. Kid Factor: No gore and no sex! What's a girl to do? Well, for starters work on one of the best puzzle games out there for their age. It's definately on the creepy side, so if you have younger detectives, I'd go with the Nancy Drew: The Secret of Shadow Ranch or one of the other games in the series - the tone is quite a bit lighter. ![]() Reviewer Recommended Ages: 12+ Genre: Puzzle/Adventure ESRB Rating: E for Everyone Publisher: HER Interactive Developer: HER Interactive Format For Printing | Tell A Friend | Digg | Slashdot | del.icio.us Home > Review Archive > Video Games > Results: Nancy Drew: Curse of the Blackmoor Manor |
