Ace Combat is an arcade flight game in which you fly around and blow up other planes while not getting destroyed yourself. What makes it more like an arcade game is that you're not going to have problems because of turbulence or wind so it's really not a simulator. The main goals in the missions are to either blow up all targets or to follow someone in a set formation. There are some mission updates in which something happens (other really hard planes fly in, one of your planes was hit, etc) and you have to be the big hero and save everyone by beating all the bad guys.
Some new features are that you can have your own team of planes to control with directional buttons. Also they have improved the graphics so you can really see the missile light up the sky in the dark and the story is much deeper.

They really paid attention to things such as slowing down and turning which I really liked. The sound pretty much tells you what is going on, like if you finish the mission feeling all happy you can hear the music change and you know something big is happening. Play control is good and easy to get the hang of. There are some two player modes in which you can have two people shooting planes instead of one (co-op) or you can do a one on one dogfight. To unlock things you first have to destroy the plane in story mode and then buy it when you earn enough money. I really enjoyed playing this game and just for the sheer pleasure of beating the last plane I would play it again!
Except for planes blowing up the violence isn't that bad, however there are some bad words during game play and the story. I think that a reasonable age to play would be around 12 (preferably with adult supervision) because with the curse words and the dramatic storyline I really think no one under the age of 10 should play this game.
