An evil crocodile is putting electronic helmets on all the residents of Firefly Swamp and can now control them to do his bidding! It's up to Frogger to hop to it and save his friends!
Experience classic Frogger arcade gameplay in a new 3D adventure. View the action from a top-down perspective as you guide Frogger around obstacles and moving enemies, while hopping around safe ground and trying to keep your head above water. Frogger has a long jump to reach distant platforms, a high jump to nab coins in the air, and he can push or pull objects around with his long tongue. Frogger can also use his tongue to reach out of the way items and in conjunction with the high jump, can latch onto posts and swing like a jungle frog. As you collect coins in the main adventure, you spend them on mini-games. You compete in these mini-games wirelessly with other players using multiple DS units. The game doesn't really use the unique capabilities of the DS except in one mini-game where you must blow into the microphone to roll around a fat frog trying to push other fat frogs off the platform. You can also play a re-creation of the classic arcade Frogger game using both screens. Unlock other surprises with passwords from the new GameCube Frogger game as well. ![]() The 3D graphics on the DS look nearly as good as the GameCube Frogger games and the music is happy and bouncy. The story cutscenes feature full voices, giving the game that Saturday morning cartoon feel. Play control is simple and responsive, although getting the buttons mixed up may result in an untimely squashed or waterlogged frog. Fans of simple classic arcade gameplay may like this Frogger, but it is a bit too much like the other portable Frogger games released over the past few years.
Frogger prefers to avoid his foes instead of attacking them, so there's very little violence in this game. He may get trampled or dunked several times, but Frogger always springs back for more. Reading skill is helpful to understand the tutorial hints, but an older player can help out with that. The youngest gamer can grasp the simple gameplay and controls, but some of the challenges Frogger faces may be a bit too frustrating for very little ones, especially since if you lose all your ムhits' you have to start the stage over again. This is still a pretty decent kid's game, though.
